Poang is comfortable, but soooo Ikea. If I were to buy it again, I'd buy this 2nd hand. Personally, I don't think it's a very attractive chair, but it is comfy and great for soothing a baby.

Karlstad #1 was bought after comfort testing at the local Ikea. 3 years later, it is still comfortable and looks fine. The covers have been washed innumerable times and have been spilled on with God-knows-what. They vacuum well and don't lose their shape in the wash - we drip dry over-night, so I can't speak to what might happen with a dryer.

Karlstad #2 was bought 2nd hand at 50% off price of new. Wish we had bought Karlstad #1 2nd hand because at this point, I couldn't tell you which was purchased new or second hand to save my life. Both covers have been washed, and washed, and washed (5 kids + 1 big dog).

Ikea sells white covers at (I think) €60 ($60, in US?). Worth the investment because that way you can immediately recover the sofa while the other cover is in the wash. Be careful, though, because not all of the Karlstad covers are washable - be sure to check the label before purchase!
