Oh my goodness, I'm so glad to know other people do this, too (and with the same TV shows, it seems)! I've watched the entire series of 30 Rock probably 15 times (not even exaggerating), mostly because I just bring my laptop with me around the house and set it in the corner while I do dishes or cook dinner. I'm living alone for the first time ever, and I find noise is just nice to have.

I've considered getting a radio so I can turn on NPR or something (especially on Saturdays and Sundays), but for now, I'll enjoy reoccurring Netflix episodes with my favorite comediennes!

I'm actually a photojournalist for a living, so I'm naturally the picture-taker in my family. Because of point and shoots and iPhones, though, my sisters and mom do end up taking a lot of pictures, though the pictures taken with my camera usually end up being the favorites and classics throughout the years.

Since we're not together as much anymore, we make sure to get together for a posed picture taken with my DSLR, but by someone else (though never on auto!). This way, everyone makes it into the pictures! Sometimes this goes well, sometimes we all look like idiots. But we have fun either way :)

Patience is the best advice here, and the hardest to learn! I moved into my first post-college apartment six months ago. And when I moved cross country, all the furniture I had with me was my bed, my desk and two nightstands.

Every single item in my apartment is thrifted, gifted or from IKEA, except for my couch — I did "splurge" ($900) on that. It took awhile, and I've still got a few other rooms to finish, but I love coming home to my beautiful place now!

I just bought my first sander! I've used it a couple times since. It's amazing how many things I needed it for. It's my second power tool — first was a cordless drill, now a power sander, and I also found an inexpensive second-hand jigsaw last week. Ready to take on the world!

Thanks for updating this post to reflect the prices :) Just as someone who likes to DIY and is on a super tight budget, I always like to know how deep I'm going into my pocketbook before I start. It's appreciated!

The $40 tag is misleading...you'd have to buy the hairpin legs, too, which cost $10-$15 a piece.

There's a flea market in Kansas City (Missouri) called Urban Mining. They open year-round on the first weekend of every month. Vintage items, antiques — homeware, furniture, art, jewelry, etc. Super affordable, great selection. http://www.urbanmininghomewares.com

I love the World Market curtains I bought recently. They're so colorful!

@SamanthaD This may not be the right way to do it, but when the curtains come with the cloth tiebacks, I just put a small nail in the wall right next to the trim of the window and hang it from there. It's not very noticeable.

My younger sisters do this with their iPod cables. One of them wrapped it in string like the guitar cable. The other one painted it with nail polish. I'm sure neither took long — they're not very patient people. Haha.

Based on other recommendations, I might try shipping them and taking a cutting, just in case they don't make it. Good luck!

How Can I Move Plants Cross Country? Good Questions

I developed a cat allergy when I was around 18 (I'm 23 now) and I've fought it tooth and nail, because I love pets so much! I'm only allergic to cats (not dogs), and adopted a kitten about 6 months ago (I just moved to a place far away from my family, alone, and needed a buddy). I've helped my allergies most simply with allergy shots, which I give myself once a week. I adopted a kitten because kittens usually have less dander, and wanted to get used to my particular cat as it got older, so I wouldn't be as allergic to it. I noticed when I would go home to my parent's house, I would be so allergic to their cat, but after long stays (Christmas, etc), I would develop a resistance to it and it wouldn't bother me as much, which is kind of how allergy shots work. I couple my allergy shots with normal over-the-counter allergy medicine, and had a really severe cat allergy beforehand. It can be done!

I found a cart like this recently and actually painted it the same blue color she did, but painted all three trays blue. It was such an easy project and was such a cheap upgrade for my kitchen, which has little countertop space (my microwave is on it now). Love it!

@ml_bos: I also totally relate with shopping online, by putting things in your cart but never checking out. With limited shopping in my college town, I used to online shop all the time. I still really like to look at things, and sometimes when I'm really afraid I'll start buying things, I'll just put it in the cart and walk away. If I still want it a few days later, I'll come back!
