As a local resident, I'm thrilled to see this written up, but for those of you trying to find the place, it isn't actually in Leesburg - it's in the very small village of Lucketts (the mailing address is Leesburg). Head west on the toll road to Leesburg, then north on Route 15 - you'll hit it in about 20 minutes. While there, make sure to check out the Beekeeper's Cottage, which is right next door.

And if you want to bypass Starbucks for something local, L'burg has some great coffee spots - try the Coffee Bean (take 15 through the historic district in L'burg; it's downtown at Royal and King Streets), or South Street Under in Market Station (turn off King at Loudoun Street to the right; bottom of the hill, old train station depot on the right).

Put it on ebay or craigslist and let someone who'll enjoy it buy it. Lindsey K. is right - these go for 1K on LLBean's website; someone out there would be thrilled to have it.

Have you thought about an air purifier? I bought a large-ish one for my not-well-ventilated studio apartment to deal with oil painting fumes, and I discovered a side benefit is that I no longer have lingering cooking odor - the air is much, much more pleasant.

Here's a site with reviews on purifiers - you might check to see if they specifically address cooking odors.

This is late, but I thought I'd add. I'm looking to get a purifier because I oil paint, and my apartment is poorly ventilated. I found this site:

http://www.air-purifier-power.com/

which is put together by a guy who's really into air purifiers, and has independently reviewed a bunch. He has a "top ten", which I found helpful.

Andrea, I've got a lovely old end table that my fall victim to white paint; I blame you and your beautiful white table you have in the kitchen (it looks like a sculpture with those mixing bowls). The gilt mirror and lucite lamp on your dresser look perfect together. What a wonderful home;
