I actually use something called a Smart Strip for the home media center. It has 1 master outlet and 6 slave outlets. When the device plugged into the master outlet is turned off, all power is cut to the slave outlets. It works like a charm with our TV as the master and all of the video game systems as slaves. There are also 3 "hot" outlets that are always on like a regular power strip until the switch is flipped and aren't affected by the status of the master outlet.
