Recent discovery... any nut butter on slightly (15-20 minutes) frozen banana with a sprinkle of coconut palm sugar (extra points if you can find THIS with the fleur de sel added).. just wow.

Eek... seeing people write 'ol makes me cringe. Makes me want to give a crash course in apostrophe usage. Very cute idea, though, if the tape comes off easily.

Just as an FYI, as you started to allude to above, a product needs to be not just kosher, but also kosher for passover. In other words, even if that vodka flavor was kosher, it would have to be kosher for passover in order to be ok for the holiday (in case there was something like, say, corn syrup used to give the pear flavor).

The Shiksa Blog (converted to Judaism) is a great resource. She's been posting delicious recipes all week, including:

They are all K for P and note if they're dairy, meat, parve.

Yes, exactly, emily! I can't fathom what people pay for chicken breasts. Living in NYC, I learned quickly that I'd only be able to survive if I shopped the sales, and, if i'm being honest, was willing to shop at more than one store (yes, it's a luxury to have several stores in a few-block radius). When boneless skinless breasts go on sale for $1.99/lb, I buy tons and store them. Not on sale yet and we're out? Looks like we may have to wait... I buy what's on sale and then at the beginning of the week, look in my freezer and see what's available. Then, during the week, I'll pick up fresh vegetables to supplement.

Quick/easy meals: omelets or frittatas chock full of spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc. Salmon cooks up in a pinch. Also, white fish such as tilapia defrosts pretty quickly and cooks even quicker. As a paleo option, can dip it in egg and then in almond flour (or crushed nuts).

@Cicely'sMom, i can't speak to flax, rice, hemp, oat, but I can tell you that almond milk most certainly does not freeze well :\

Absolutely agreed. Looked at a recipe yesterday. thought to myself.... nooooot so sure that's going to work. And it didn't. Luckily I had enough skills to salvage it, but it was touch-and-go for a while, and I should have trusted my intuition the first time.

Being a lefty in a tiny kitchen, I can't say that I have any more problems than my righty boyfriend does. But I can't use kitchen sheers or a mechanical can opener (and I cut left-handed).

I would also note that you stated that you're staying away from sugar and fat. While I think it's a good idea to limit sugar content, I don't think it's a great idea to stay away from all kinds of fat. Definitely look to include good kinds of fat in your diet, such as nuts and no or low sugar added nut butters, salmon, olive oil, avocado, and the like.

This is practically mine, minus the cat! Up at 4:45, hate life. At gym by 5:20, home by 6:40, shower, smoothie, pack lunch, say "shit!", look for my keys, and finally make it out the door by 7:25 to grab the bus....

Similar to above, I took this recipe (substituted a lemon and a navel orange for Meyer lemon), added dried cranberries, and drizzled with white chocolate. so, so good: http://www.bellalimento.com/2012/02/20/pistachio-and-meyer-lemon-biscotti/

These! http://www.bakersroyale.com/holiday/peppermint-chocolate-spoons-and-hot-chocolate/

And yes, this counts as white chocolate drizzle, but I recently combined two recipes to make citrus pistachio biscotti with white chocolate drizzle that were so delicious. Meyer lemons weren't in season yet when I made this but you could certainly use those if you can find em: http://www.bellalimento.com/2012/02/20/pistachio-and-meyer-lemon-biscotti/ I followed this recipe but took inspiration from this recipe to add in dried cranberries and drizzle white chocolate: http://www.dutchessroz.com/2011/12/christmas-biscotti-recipe.html?m=1

" If you want to invite adult children who still live in their parents house, please send them their own invitations."

Yes! How about, if you want to invite adult children, please send them their own invitations, period! I'm almost 30 and my sister is 32. Cousins still send invites for family gatherings to our mother. It bothers me because I want that information directly in my inbox (and would like to know that I'm old enough to RSVP for myself ;)). My mother hates it because my sister is one of those people who is "flexible" about RSVPing and my mother doesn't want to wait for my sister to get her act together.

Party Planning Vent: What's So Hard About RSVPing?

I have to side with @VoluptuousVegan and @jannette on this one. I don't think it has anything to do with being too busy (or maybe it's just that I hate when people use "I'm so busy" as an excuse - we all make time for that which is important to us, but I digress). I think it's a little bit of laziness, mixed with people not wanting to agree to a date in advance, in case something better comes up - which is even worse when you think of the time and money spent in party planning.
