I wonder if they ever make round farm tables. I've never seen one and my dining room is too small for a rctangular table.

Well this is embarassing. I've been waffling for a while about putting both my boys in one room so I can have my guest/crafting room back. I'm hesitant because there's such a huge age gap between them (10 and 3). It just doesn't seem fair, and the rooms are so tiny. I've thought about buying a 4 bedroom house, but like you we realized we only live in the kitchen and den! Still debating, but this is so inspirational.

I've been impressed with that paint as well. I painted some of those cheap plastic outdoor chairs that we keep on our lawn when we're in the back yard. They stil look good after a couple of hot Georgia summers and a particularly rainy summer last year. I also painted a clothes hamper as part of a closet do-over during last year's January Cure. I've had the hamper for 20+ years, and it was a horrible sage green. I painted it bright yellow to coordinate with the closet and it still looks really nice. Obviously it's not outside, but it does get a lot of use.

We've been looking for a vanity like that, unfortunately our bathroom is so small we need something that's only 30" wide. Thus far no luck. This is absolutely gorgeous.

We got the Gulliver back in 2011 and couldn't be more pleased. For our previous baby we'd bought a hugely expensive (and huge!) crib. We love this one much more. For one thing it takes up a lot less space. I was worried about the durability of Ikea furniture, but we bought our older child a bunk bed there in 2008 with plans to buy a better one when our financial circumstances improved. That that thing is still going strong, and trust me, my son could break a bowling ball! I always strongly recommend Ikea furniture for kid's rooms, it just makes sense.

I needed this. It's odd, I didn't do this at our previous home, but I'm constantly doing it at this one. I think it's deep seated anxiety about the layoff that precipitated our move.

Never thought of "nesting" tables, but might try that effect in my dining room. We use it mainly for homework and kiddie stuff and having a smaller table would be ideal for the toddler.

I loathe my "vintage" kitchen. As someone who cooks at least three meals a day in a poorly planned lacking counter space and storage kitchen I say bring in the new. I used to work in restaurants, and for me that's my ideal kitchen: clean, bright and efficient. Vintage is impossible to kerp clean or work in. I love the new kitchen and have the rest of my house to kerp as a time capsule, were I so inclined.

I live in the north Atlanta suburbs. My sofa is tufted and is 72" wide with two seat cushions. I bought my fabric at an off retail place and got 20 yards for about $150. Labor, including some pretty significant repairs to approximately five springs where the clips had come undone and new seat cushions, cost $600.

My son has a chest of drawers that my husband had as a boy. We refinished it and it looks great. We plan to do the same with his boyhood desk.

Interesting. They custom ordered 10' boards of douglas fir for only $33 a piece. Somehow I don't think that's happening here in Atlanta. Wonder what I could get at a similar cost?

I do it all the time. There's a fabulous consignment store near me that has great buys. They've expanded and the deals aren's as great as they used to be, but still good. If I see something great that doesn't work for me I'll post it on my blog and various social networks. My friends will snap them up.

It was on clearance. Presumably they won't be getting it back. Looks similar to some Ikea stuff. Have you checked there?

I hate cold hard boiled eggs too. But a few minutes in a cup of hot water heats them right up. Oh, and we have a carton just for hard boiled eggs.

The Hemnes dressers hold up very well. I've had one in my 9 yo boy's room for five years. That boy can break a bowling ball, if he hasn't damaged it, it can't be damaged.

I actually bought the All Clad roasting pan last year, but it was too large for my (admittedly) tiny oven. The handles flared out too much. I'm eyeing the Martha Stewart pan. I've bought things from her collection at Kmart back in the day, and wonder if her Macy's products are of the same quality.
