$1398 mortgage for 2100sf in Manassas, Virginia. I paid more per sf in rent closer in to DC but I don't have to commute anymore so I was able to get so much more out here!

Two years here in my first owned house. My last apartment, five-plus years (03-08), making it the place I lived in second-longest after my last family home (83-91). Lots of apartments in between, in college and after (91-03). I grew up moving every two years and continued it for years and I hate it!

I can't imagine any reason why a utility would need or have a right to a customer's social security number, why they'd require a physical card, or why anyone would give it to them.

I'm not embarrassed AT ALL to say it was Bruce Springsteen. Not just posters but every article and photograph and tape liner i could get ny hands on. Man, those were the days.

I work with maps, and the way countries appear and disappear and get renamed fascinates me. I decided a few years back that I really, really want a globe from about 1930-38, before the war, around the time African countries started to become independent from the colonial powers.

The real pain of it is that globes are NEVER dated. It's impossible to figure out exactly when one is from without a lot of painstaking what-if research. Most sellers on Etsy and eBay don't know what they have and show pictures of the US or the USSR, not the west Africa and eastern Europe and southeast Asia that date globes most specifically. Sellers who DO know what they have charge a lot more.

The point is, if you choose to use globes in decorating, it WILL become important to you when they're from, even if it's not at first, and you will (like me) go slowly insane from it. Be warned! :)

It was many years ago, so maybe they've improved, but number 3, Wonderworks in Orlando, was seriously one of the worst museums I've ever been to. Overpriced and boring and dumb. My family still sort of bitterly jokes about it.

I still love Keith Haring's work, and I'm in the market for a sizable piece of wall art, but I'm just not sure this isn't too little, too late. I would have pulled the trigger in a second a few years ago.

I lived in and near Tampa for years, but never in someplace so cute.

What's the metal lamp in the bedroom? I like that lamp a lot.

This is my favorite building in the world, and I'm nothing but disappointed with the official LEGO set of it. There's no red! The red frames on the windows are vital to the design.

THIS, though, this is freakin' art. Wonderful.

Gorilla tape sticks great to itself, but the few times I've used it (mainly to repair tears in foam chair armrests), it wouldn't stick to the surface I was trying to repair. I had to wrap it all the way around and stick it to itself before it would really adhere. Maybe I just haven't been putting it to the right use, but I was really disappointed. I only bought it because fabric gaffer tape is so hard to find.
