Gorgeous and comfy! White beds with accent colors are the way to go(mine included). The curtains are to die for and I never get tired of the combo with the matchsticks for depth and texture.
Well done and thanks for sharing!

I got the creepy-crawlies reading these posts!
I feel very fortunate to live somewhere(small CA beach town)the bedbug epidemic has not hit(yet). My daughter just bought a platform bed, an antique wrought iron bed and a dresser on CL in DC. I was sure to warn her about the little buggers before she bought, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
The whole provenance debate reeks of class warfare to me. I love well-crafted pieces as much as the next design-conscious person, but it seems like the only reason to charge 7000 bucks for a side table is to reassure the obsessed-with-appearances wealthy that, yes, they really are different from us less monetarily blessed.
As demonstrated nearly daily on this site, people with more creativity than money are designing rings around the folks with more money than sense.
Just sayin'.

I have a vintage Kindel cane-back chair with faux bamboo frame(CL)I painted black. It was originally off-white. The lacquer black is gorgeous and really brings out the character. Great job on this pair!

I am a massage therapist and wash loads of oily sheets. I regularly find a line of oily gunk in my top loader machine. Thanks for the tips!
FYI: Bleach is a carcinogen. I haven't used it for years. Cleansers with bleach, such as Comet and Ajax are two of the most toxic cleaners for the users and toxic for our environment. Go the the Environmental Working Group(EWG)website for more info on keeping you, your family and our earth poison free.

My daughter and her family live on Capitol Hill(DC). Their first home was a 4 story rowhouse condo, w/them on the third floor. The guest room where I slept when visiting from CA was below the upstairs neighbors' elliptical/treadmill(?) At 630 or 7 every morning my room and bed would vibrate and pound for at least 45 minutes. You could not notice it outside this room, so my kids had no idea this went on. Not used to cramped city living, I was more than annoyed. My daughter, who is a master of diplomacy and persuasion, convinced them to change their workout time while Mom was in town. They now own a rowhouse and have renters in the English basement. They are respectful, but not hyper-aware of the noise they make. With a toddler now and one on the way, they definitely have the choice if the renters complain too much.
Good luck. It sounds as if someone needs to move.

Great ideas! My daughter is due in August and her first(a girl)will be 2 then. She was waiting to see what sex was on the way, but I agree; good design does not pigeonhole you to a certain style/color.

@Tammy E, I'm with you on the paisley, girl! More bohemian, middle Eastern and Indian inspired textiles against the all-white backdrop of walls and upholstery. Add in the wabi sabi of rough, natural wood furniture and nature-inspired elements mixed with the luxe colors and textures...mmmmm!

I got it at Ross! Great space, fabulous placement! I agree with sj, a rug(flokati or?)would really warm up the room AND your feet.

Elisabeth, I'm fairly sure it's in the senecio family, but I can't be certain. Super easy to grow and multiply! They seem to prefer part shade even here on the California coast.

Surprising someone with an unexpected kindness feels so good and boosts your immune system! So, go ahead. Let someone pull out of the driveway. Let the harried mother juggling a baby or toddler(or both!)and purchases line at the store go ahead of you. Stoop to pick up something a person walking ahead of you has dropped. Smile and make eye contact. We all long for connection in the world. It can be a lot less lonely place with just a tiny bit of effort.
Two lives changed for the better.

So happy to see live plants in a home tour. Maybe it's just a California thing, with our abundant sunshine, or the fact that as a former nursery manager, I cannot live without at least one(or five)plants in every room!
I enjoyed the whole energy of your place, Alex, and your obvious joie de vivre in design. I don't care for nitpicking this or that.
The TV would be fun with a big goldfish bowl(with fish)or a print of the old "off the air" design that used to come on after the Star Spangled Banner. You Boomers know what I'm talkin' 'bout!

I love being part of such a diverse, intelligent and clever community here on AT!
Urbal; perfect! KateModern, so great, so perfect for London living :D
I grew up on a 30 acre CA orange grove next to the Sierra Nevada mtn range. We had a cattle ranch in the foothills and horses(of course!) Lots of chores, but a lot of freedom to wander without supervision. I couldn't wait to get out of that little narrow-minded town!
Orange County was still funky and had lots of open space : /
Left that for a tiny town in the Colorado Rockies(500 people is TOO small, folks!)
I followed my family's migration to San Luis Obispo. 27 years later, I live within earshot of the foghorn and the braying of the sea lions in the bay, an hour south of Big Sur.
I do work with horses, though my tiny seaside cottage restricts ownership ;)
I love visiting SF or LA, as I'm halfway between. My daughter and her growing family live on Capitol Hill in DC, so I get my share of "city life" and I get to browse the DC CL; my favorite ads start with: 'Just transferred to Paris, my loss your gain'!
