Just to add to my comment above, the window treatment does soften the brick. The sofa, coffee table and fabric used for the drapes provide a beautiful contrast to the patterns. Eric Cohler at Adamsleigh Show House High Point Spring Market 2013 |

Love this confident mix of patterns -- particularly the chair and rug. Why a screen in front of a window? In a word, privacy. IMO, a screen can be moved, while any window treatment --closed or open-- would detract from the windows. It's easy to simply have one pattern in a room... What a beautiful and soothing space. I love the F & B paint color and textiles -- especially the window treatment. Great job -- this is one of the very best entries posted. Thanks for sharing -- the look is inspirational. Courtney's Soothing Blue Bedroom My Bedroom Retreat Contest |

I would suggest going to a store that carries upholstery fabric or even a store like JoAnn Fabrics that has a section with large fabric swatches that can be checked out and brought home to evaluate how the fabric works with your rug and sofa, etc. LCAM suggested Sunbrella -- a great option. Or check out fabric lines such as Robert Allen, Brunschwig & Fils, Duralee, DwellStudio, etc. depending on how much you want to invest. Finally, you may want to consider using a subtle tweed or menswear inspired fabric or even complementary flat weave rug to re-upholster the chairs, and change out the pillows on the sofa.
