I have neighbors that tied sturdy bamboo fencing to their porch railing, so it stands up about 4 feet beyond the height of the rail. I think its similar to this, though there are other colors available:

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor before I could comment. I would kill for a place with that much gorgeous detail and historical character. SWOON.

I have wanted a Golden Girls floor plan to hang on my wall FOR YEARS. This. Is. Awesome.

(Also, I don't think there is an ideal way to draw it. Knowing what the outside looked like simply doesn't match the way they used it on the show. The artist acknowledges this and I think has done a good job of marrying the two)

I assume you had the vintage rocking chair in the living room reupholstered? I inherited a similar style of ornate rocker and I've been trying to decide on a new fabric for ages - any insights?

I think most landlords are flexible when it comes to walls (especially if you do a good job), but for the LOVE OF GOD don't paint wood, trim or molding without permission. You can layer paint on the walls, but wood details will lose definition over time with each layer of paint - landlords don't want to spend a fortune stripping their trim, cabinets and windows down the line.

And I thought I had a good view of campus back in the day - the picture you took of that fog is just stunning. I also love your mini bar/tea area. Small spaces are such fun challenges, I wish we saw more dorm rooms on here!

THAT'S how you balance orange-y wood tones! I wish more people would consider options like this before painting existing wood & trim.

Having said that though, maybe her trim is really beat up and she has the landlord's permission to paint it. Not going to hate on her choices when I don't know all the details.

This is stunning but WHY isn't there a better picture of what appears to be a stained glass skylight?? Or am I misinterpreting that picture of the stairwell?

This area has a lot of angles - don't add to them by angling your table or adding more furniture, like a banquet. I highly suggest buying a round table.

If you want, try taping off a rough circle to see what diameter will feel most comfortable. Or, try removing the table and corralling the chairs into a circle formation to confirm that it feels better than a square table. Then, if possible, buy a round table with leaves that you can take with you to future homes.

I would hang them high and wide - the height will suit the scale of a Victorian home and keep the woodwork visible when they are open. Of course you'd like to see the woodwork all the time, but the way they are hung now obscures a good portion of it as it is.

I should amend my previous comment, it looks like quite a few of the Rosanna mug sets are both microwave and dishwasher safe!

I was given a set of lovely Rosanna mugs and matching plates for graduation. They came in sweet boxes that match the theme of the dishes, which I still have stacked on a side table because they're so pretty. The only conceivable downside is that many of the products are porcelain (thought not all!), and microwaving/dishwasher use is "not recommended."

Whatever color you choose, I would be sure to fill in their eyes, noses and mouths - they look skeletal rather than regal at the moment.
