Finally something with a little backbone! I agree with chaos about the aesthetic diversity because the world would be damn boring if we all had the same house. There are so many custom details to love about this but I think my favorite is the tilework under the counter - looks like they were a lot of work! On the flipside - I have moments where I would like to visit friends without necessarily making plans in advance but don't bother calling cause i'd feel bad about puting them in a 10-min cleanup rush. Whatever you do, do not change your wall colour, nor your carpet - they are both gorgeous together! My initial thought was something white to brighten up the space, however, I think clear acrylic would be very fresh and bold without looking crazy. You could then add a white runner or centerpiece to brighten up the table.
