This is such a timely post because my boyfriend and I have been discussing this a lot lately. We bought our townhouse one year ago. The development is set up so there are six homes on each side of a common lane (i.e. they face each other in a relatively small area). We didn't know this at the time but two households have had bad blood for several years (appealing to the HOA, fighting over each other's dogs, etc.) and our adjoining neighbors have basically taken sides. So as the new kids on the block, we have tried to be friendly to everyone and not get sucked into the factions that were established way before our time. But sadly, there's always an underlying tension, especially in the warmer months when a lot of us are sitting on our stoops or working on our narrow front yards. Can't we all just get along? Turns out, the answer is no. I think both of the feuding neighbors are here to stay b/c they have school-age kids and both of them say they can't imagine living anywhere else. The unpleasantness has made me think about selling next year. Considering Your Neighbors When You Choose a New Home |

After years of renting, we bought our first house literally one year ago. And we bought the first house we visited. It was perfect! I knew the minute I walked in. It met all of our criteria: great location near running trails, townhouse with brick facade, within our price range, ample storage, 2 bed/2 bath, hardwood floors throughout, updated kitchen and bathrooms, small patio out back, gorgeous finished basement with space for an office. The only "drawback" is a 15-minute longer commute via public transportation but it was something I was willing to accept. Falling in Love with a Home |

I had a Dyson handheld for three years and loved it-- until the day it flat-out just died. I think the battery gave out and no longer could hold a charge. Instead of trying to order s replacement part, I bought the Black and Decker pivoting handheld for $40 at Target. I've had it for a month and so far, so good. Mine holds a charge for two days without plugging in. Then again, I only use it in 5 minute spurts twice a day. 5 Handheld Vacuums for Mini Messes |

This is one of my favorite house tours in a long time. I love everything about your home and totally respect that you're taking time to finish projects with things you love. Impeccable taste! Nick & Jason's Preppy Meets Kitschy Home House Tour |

I was thinking the exact same thing. Way too many close-up shots and not enough pulled-back ones to get some context. And sadly, no photos of the kitchen or bathroom--everyone, including me, is always looking for inspiration for the kitchen and bathrooms! Kelly's Globe-Trotting DC Condo House Tour |

I like your clean and modern aesthetic, although I need more color in my own environment. We live in a townhouse in Shirlington but love the idea of a DC loft. And we have the same pendant light from Home Depot--ours hangs in our dining area :) Stefanie & Taylor's Black and White Luxury DC Loft House Tour |
