A beautiful location and a beautiful house. I find the bright blue window and door trims distracting from the quiet elegance of the interiors. It's a bit like a woman dressed tastefully in neutrals, but with Barbie pink toenails poking out from under her skirt.

Ditto that, GregPGH. I'm so glad AT has introduced me to these exotic cleaning implements.

They've certainly done a good job of masking the blandness of a brand new condo, though it's a little too fussy for my taste. It would be interesting to follow up in a few months to see how the space has changed as their baby gets older and more mobile. (I trust the pin board closet doors will be made pinless before she starts crawling around in the blue room.) I can only imagine how many cheerios will get lodged in all that button tufting!!! :-)

Most of the time your pillows are going to be set against the dark leather couch — not the rug itself. So I don't shy away from picking patterned pillows. Just keep the scale of the pattern smaller than your rug, and vary the scale a bit if you get multiple pillows.

As long as the pillows don't clash with the color or style of your rug (e.g., I'd skip Barbie pink or metallic silver) you should be fine.

I like the idea of the Kilim pillows or other ethnic patterns, since the pattern of your rug is a modern twist on a Moorish or Persian rug.

When in doubt, buy a bunch of pillows, try them out in the room, and return the ones you don't like!

There are some great pieces in this home, but they're camouflaged by all the other STUFF. It's design overload. This house is in desperate need of some editing.

My favorite thing about this tour is the cable wire "art" in the hallway. Creating art out of necessity that we usually try to hide — it's genius!

Overall, I liked this makeover. But if feels like they matched the upholstered furniture too closely to the walls in the living room and the bar area. I almost want to swap the blue couch and those mint green chairs for some contrast.

I'm not a fan of the lacy curtains on the bedroom doors. There are so many other more interesting and creative options they could have come up with — blinds, paper, window film or even more interesting fabric. Those lace panels look like they belong to a spinster who rented the apartment 60 years ago.

And did anyone else catch Cortney's helpful tip for the dining room? "Hang a light fixture directly over the dining table." Duh.

Beautiful space. Never would have guessed that was an IKEA couch — it looks like Room & Board.

I watched this episode and was also struck by Suzanne Vega's lackluster response.

The after certainly looks better than the cluttered, schlumpy-dumpy before. But calling either room a "living room" is a stretch. Bob and Cortney basically delivered on a very small den and a music room. Perhaps that's what Suzanne wanted, but we'll never know because an extensive client consult isn't part of the "Home by Novogratz" format.

In addition to the non-cozy looking DIY couch, I think they also missed on the not-irregular-enough-to-look-intentional gallery wall and the odd lonely panel of wallpaper. The powder-coating technique was interesting, but it would have been nice to have seen that green picked up somewhere else in the room to make it more cohesive.
