I think its a great way to use some of your more eye appealing dishes and glassware on display....but I sure couldn't do them all that way. My Tupperware cabinet with all those darn lids would have to be closed up...lol. Apartment Therapy New York | Close-Up: Colored Kitchen CabinetsNew York |

Consider your beige carpeting a "backdrop" for your other items to "pop" with. Use a colorful area rug and furnishings and artwork to make it all flow together. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Good Questions: Can An Apartment Look Good With Beige Carpet?Los Angeles#comments#comments |

How about some bamboo roman shades? They fold up to the desired opening you want, but yet when closed, still allow light to filter through? I'm a bit concerned why you want floor length as well....isn't that a heater in front of the window?? Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: Inexpensive Window Treatments? |

Have you considered white-washing it?? It would definetely tone down the darkness, yet not be a stark white. With your pops of red and chartreuse, it would sort of look like "beachy meets modern" Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | LA Good Question: Updating Wood Panel Walls? |

As soon as I saw the frame wallpaper I knew what I, personally would do with it. I would ramdomly paint some of the frames in different colors and then (using photocopies of course) use double stick tape and put up some family photo's that could be interchanged. It would make it interesting when people came in the door looking at all the pics!!! Plus adding the color you want. I would also change out the light fixture to get one that hangs down farther and hang something over the fuse box to disguise that Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Good Questions: What Should I Do With My Scary Hallway? |

Assuming there are 2 other walls, one being with the entry door...I would place the bed on the wall with no door and then there would be plenty of room for a headboard!! Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Good Question: Where Should The Bed Go? |

I can see a narrow table there that resembles a staircase. Basically three connected shelves. You could possibly build one. The longer "step" as the base, the middle step, then the top smaller one to house the lamp. You could still use the lower shelves (magazine, coaster???) and the three layers would add interest. Sure, why not??? Instead of only having the chair being lime green I would also add some little touches of it here and there to make it look more planned such as a throw pillow, picture frame or candles or a piece of art to tie in all the colors. Hard without a floor plan, but here goes. You could take your countertop with legs and place it directly under the window. Build shelves to "represent" a shelving unit on both sides and connect them with a top board connecting the two, sort of "framing in" the window. Buy two coording fabrics. One to make a curtain for the window. Bear in mind, this one will sort of appear as an "art piece" when finished. This way your "eye sore" turns into a piece of art. The other?? Use heavy duty velcro to adhere the other fabric surrounding the countertop to hide some file cabinets under the countertop. Use the scrap pieces of fabric to sew throw pillows for the couch to tie everything in together.
