My mom's style was very Jacqueline Kennedy, so as a child I was impressed with the "hippie" style of a friend's parents--a curtain of strung beads that separated the kitchen and living room, lots of macrame plant holders with leggy plants. Also, the entire inside of a small closet, including the inside of the door, covered in yellow smiley-face wallpaper.

We had the same intentions--that our dog would sleep in his own bed. He's our first dog, though, and a real cuddler so I couldn't resist--he sleeps with us every night (he happens to be small & doesn't shed, so we're lucky in those respects).

the glittery bows are fabulous, and I particularly like your door color. my front door is black and trad wreaths typically “disappear” on it -- this year I got a silver wreath at Ikea and love it

This apartment is so natural and unpretentious seeming--that's the charm. I like the rug hung over the door. Unexpected and cute--Well done! (incidentally, I see the hat guy too)

Yes--we search these out! I've never stayed, but loved seeing the Wigwam Village in Cave City KY (http://www.stagednormalcy.com/?p=311). Planning to stay at the Savannah Thunderbird (dog friendly!)--glad you had a good experience, Miranda.

yes--I love this stuff. I'll admit I originally bought it for the cool packaging but the product itself is fantastic. The results don't last forever but the application is foolproof. I use it a couple of times a year for touch-ups.

double key deadbolts can be dangerous in case of fire or if you need to get out of your house for any reason in a huge hurry (say you discover an intruder already in the house).

love this room. masculine yet slightly whimsical. I'm liking the rug choice, weird in a good way--kind of gives it a woodland vibe (Mr. Tumnus' cottage).
