The floor and the tile both have a touch of red in them that is missing in your paint color.

Ditch the wallpaper there is no need to make this the focus wall.

I would be painting it a the same color (maybe different tone) as the rest of the room it is attached to. As far as the tile? It looks like any 5X8 rug in the color you need will fill the space enough to hide the tile.

I love the design in the bathroom. Does this have any kind of "kitchen" in it? In my opinion, a fridge is a must in a caravan.

I spy with my little eye.. Ikea, Ikea, Ikea. Sorry, I couldn't resist poking a bit of fun at the room. BTW I happen to love Ikea and appreciate you posting this.

I love that radio on the book shelf. It reminds me of those 50's transistor radios. Do they make them any more?

I love the red just not the tone of it. The current wall color has a purple tone to it and you need something that has more of a warm tone to it. I'd repaint in a warmer red (red that has yellow undertones).

If you really want color on the walls. Fabric on the wall is an option. Use liquid fabric starch as your "glue". Basically you soak the material in the fabric softner and adher the material to the walls much like wallpaper. To remove, you wet the "paper", remove and wipe down the walls.

A live bait shop is your easiest source. Try nightcrawlers if they are available. They were my grandpa's favorite for his "worm farm". It was my job to water them, grandpa did the "feeding" which was mostly old torn up newspapers and choice bits from the kitchen. He was not interested in composting, he was interested in the raising worms. But the concept is exactly the same. Rule of thumb, if the worms die, there is to much moisture. Have fun.

Peter Walsh, Peter Walsh, Peter Walsh. Read his books first, FINISH them before you approach your wife again.

Start with "It's All Too Much: An Easy Plan for Living a Richer Life with Less Stuff" this book concentrates more on the physical stuff. Then read "Enough Already!: Clearing Mental Clutter to Become the Best You". This concentrates more on the mental part that will give your wife insight on who she is trying to avoid being. It also has many thought provoking questions that will help you deal with this problem.

Your wife's problems have nothing to do with the "stuff" but with the memories they invoke.

Isn't sanding to help the paint to adhere the with surface? How does sanding prevent glunky layers? Typically the glunky layers have more to do with the amount of paint layered on the surface.

The handicapped woman needs 36 inches (and is entitled to it, by law) to get into her car. That means 36 inches from HER side to the "line". It also might mean take the whole parking area, subtract 36 inches and then split the remaining area down the middle.

The landlord is no dummy, he knows how expensive the legalities of the local governmental agency decision will be if they get involved.

I would circumvent the landlord and go to the people with the real answers. Don't go to report them, go to get answers. Do this so you are following the laws and not the whims of your neighbor and landlord. Take your own pictures of the whole area and take them down to the local ADA (american with disabilities act) government agency. And have them answer two questions.

1. If the neighbor is handicap, legally, just where should the dividing line go between the two of parking places.
2. What does the neighbor have to do to prove they are handicap to receive this benefit?

If the neighbor is a scammer, they will be interested. Fraud is a big no-no in this area of the government. And do give the impression of YOU wanting to be a person that respects and obeys the laws in this area of the government.

Good luck.

I've never seen foam core at any DT store. (isn't it frustrating how so many things are regional and not nationwide?) In my neck of the woods (n. fl), $135 seems about right.

Very nice idea. I tried something like that once on a smaller scale. My cats loved their new playground. Unfortunately I didn't make it for them.

The hack is subtle, nice to have the crib now match the rest of the furniture. I bet it looks amazing. Maybe change the title to reflect the change of the wood/style on the bottom and pics to show how it now matches the rest of the furniture?

My big concern is the cord hanging near the crib.

I think your largest problem is your modern looking fireplace. A large faux surround/mantal would greatly help toward your goal. I'm sure you can find an ton of ideas from those DIY shows that are so popular. (use the black tile as a innner frame for the surround)

As far as the brick goes stay with the colors within the brick and you should be fine.

Post a picture when you are finished!

Write them a wonderful invitation to your party and mean it!

Next, go to them in person and acknowledge that you understand they like to retire early and in the spirit of the holidays would like to extend the invitation to include a wonderful evening at a local B &B or a good hotel with great view and roomservice(your treat!). Include the cab fare there and back. If they want to discuss the noise. Just smile and say you will be happy to discuss a resolution after the holidays and make a date then and there for lunch with them.

Sometimes you have to pay to get what you want.

Years ago, in a tastefully decorated guest bath, I reached for the guest towel to dry my hands and saw the wedding photo. It should have been tacky, but it was not.

The small frame (2x3ish)was sitting in a group of typical bath needs, the dish of soap, the towels and hand cream. It was in a small frame which had the same finish as much of the bath. The colors of the photo coordinated perfectly with the photo. That photo was in plain sight as I was sitting there and was never even noticed it until I reached for the towel.

It really made an impact with me that it should have been so tacky, but it just wasn't. It made a huge statement by being so subtle and unexpected.

Luckly I don't have to share right now.

When I did, I always put the wet clothes in the dryer. I NEVER EVER turned the dryer on, never. I put the cloths in the dryer because it was usually the only clean place to put them.

Most times I had to put the wet clothes back in the washer so I could use the dryer.

If it is not a working fireplace (or you will never use it) I say put the TV there. Bookshelfs on either side of the fireplace. Make sure these are deep enough for your DVD play and other electrical devices. Personally I would have glass doors on these shelves. I think doors would play off nicely with the rooms architecture (spanish, vintage, craftsman bungalow).

Move the cabinet that is now beside the fireplace to where the shelves are now. Make that your landing strip for when you come and go.

As far as the couch and other seating? It would depend on how much square footage you have and the size of the furniture. This is where a good old fashion measuring tape comes into play. I so adore your couch. I says old time Hollywood glamour to me.
