I leave it open, but I don't think the boyfriend likes it. He locks it even for a pee! (probably because the cat and I are pests and will open the door just to hear him holler). When I read this I first felt a feeling of dismay, having a wonderful wood burning fireplace myself, but in reality a gas fireplace is much safer, cleaner (in all ways), and efficient. I love this idea <3 I would cry if I saw it. My ideas so far include candy kisses and origami since I'm broke and can't afford to buy anything, except sharp cheese to make him his favorite panko mac and cheese (thank you alton brown). See, he just moved into a new office where he looks out onto a small forest and a brick wall that he's sprinkled bird food on for the local Steller's Jays. He keeps talking about getting a bird feeder or bird house, so I'm going to make one out of construction paper and fill it with kisses to put on the wall and put origami hearts and hang them on the trees outside his window.
