I'm just south of Boston and I waited as long as possible for the seasonal shift- it seems every year I do it, there still ends up being a week where I am wearing the same 4 cardigans over t shirts while the weather figures out if it wants to be warm or cold. I like to do the shift on a Friday night with an adult beverage & always throw everything on my bed so it forces me to get it done before heading to bed :)

As a newly divorced gal I found I was without a lot of important things- like a toaster- and actually did think about having a divorce party, though not to ask for gifts. Instead, for my birthday and Christmas that year I casually mentioned to my family that I was in need of a few things and would much prefer those gifts in lieu of something like a scarf. For me, I was sad that my divorce happened and the marriage ended. It sucked to lose the stuff, but I thought it would be more tacky and heartbreaking to have a party for the event because it wasn't a celebration for my marriage to end.
