I'm just south of Boston and I waited as long as possible for the seasonal shift- it seems every year I do it, there still ends up being a week where I am wearing the same 4 cardigans over t shirts while the weather figures out if it wants to be warm or cold. I like to do the shift on a Friday night with an adult beverage & always throw everything on my bed so it forces me to get it done before heading to bed :) The Seasonal Clothing Shuffle: What's Your Strategy? |

I just completed a de-wallpapering project in two rooms a few months ago- horrible layers of wallpaper on 1930s horsehair plaster. Getting that first layer of exposed wallpaper off is key so that you can get at the paper that is actually glued to the wall after. A pump sprayer to go over the entire surface really saved us- we would spray an area, let it sit a bit, and then go for the scrape. The glue part really does suck and make sure to clean the scraper off frequently because that muck from the glue really dulls them down quickly. How To Remove Wallpaper Apartment Therapy Tutorials |

As a newly divorced gal I found I was without a lot of important things- like a toaster- and actually did think about having a divorce party, though not to ask for gifts. Instead, for my birthday and Christmas that year I casually mentioned to my family that I was in need of a few things and would much prefer those gifts in lieu of something like a scarf. For me, I was sad that my divorce happened and the marriage ended. It sucked to lose the stuff, but I thought it would be more tacky and heartbreaking to have a party for the event because it wasn't a celebration for my marriage to end.
