I like the place! I've had to put my bike in my kitchen for a year, now I'm thinking I should have tried the bathroom instead ;)

I lived in 250 sq ft for a year (before moving back to my parents' place until I find a job), and after a few weeks in my studio I had enough of the feeling that I was cooking in my bedroom and sleeping in my kitchen. I separated the sleeping area from the cooking/eating area with a small bookcase, because the flat only had one high window and I didn't want to lose any light in my cave-like studio.

I have 3-folds futon that I used as a sofa during the day and bed at night. I kept it as a bed and bought a convertible armchair at Ikea, so I saved space when I was alone and could invite people over and have enough seats for everyone.

For my next place, if I can afford it, I will look for a well lighted flat where I can separate the sleeping corner from the rest of the flat, with a white curtain would be the best, but if not, a bookcase and some plants works well.

Oh, those sure are dust-collecting tiles! I like the hexagonal ones, it makes me think of a beehive. .

I would use the giant dressing room as a bedroom and vice versa, both for the size of the rooms and the location of the actual bedroom near the front door. But I like the place, which looks indeed quite big to my French eyes ;)

I'm an avid geocacher, the more players the merrier, but please, please read the guidelines before playing so you know the basic rules. There's nothing as sad as to see a cache being mistreated by rookies who just don't understand how to play.

SK345, any GPS device will do, phones and handheld GPS are both used. Be careful with the satellite reception on a phone though, in secluded area it can be tough to get a signal.

The room is bigger, if you use the window to visualise where the wall used to be. Cool renovation, though!

Ultrasonic devices work well and don't harm anyone, just keep the mice away. My parents use that and they're happy with it. It's a bi pricey but in the long run, it's worth it. See if you can borrow some from someone for a few weeks, until the mice leave.

Once the mice are gone, fill the holes they used to get in your house, clean up, get some natural repellent and voilĂ !

Also, since mice visit your kitchen, I presume they're attracted by food and/or water, so put your food into jars or such, and put your bread in a tight box such as a Tupperware, and try and keep the the clutter as minimal as possible so there's no crumbs hiding somewhere.

Remember that poison can kill mice but also hurt others: pets, protected species, kids and so on. I would strongly advise against using any kind of poison.

I'd say that those are pretty great nurseries! We don't have nurseries here. I slept in a baby basket put in my parents' living room for months, you can't honestly tell me that was more comfortable than those cute places.

As for the fire hazard, I'd say that the parent(s) would rush to their baby in case of emergency, or that the firemen would check every room (because I guess that those places aren't big to begin with) as they are trained to do (at least they do where I live, in case a kid hid somewhere or if someone's unconscious).

The after picture is better lighted, so I can't really tell if the before room was that bad, but I like the new couch!

I made the blood orange crostatas tonight! Delicious, with the subtle almond flavour in the mascarpone, yum! I used way less water than indicated in the recipe to make the crust - which is delicious by the way - but otherwise great recipe. I'll definitely keep that one!

I've never used a dishwasher, and I grew up seeing my parents wash the dishes in the sink. I know a lot of people here in France who don't own a dishwasher. I second Larissa Veloso's comment, just wash as you go and you'll be good.

I clean everything, and never skip the handles - handles are disgusting, whether door handles, windows handles, cupboards handles and so on.
