I like it...reminds me a lot of a Chair available at Ralph Lauren home that I love...

I think it'd be nice to use the base and then find a vintage tray to put on it.

Thank you everyone who voted!

and thank you Apartment Therapy for having such an inspiring and awesome contest.

It is a great great honor to have competed against so many wonderful homes.

I think the thing we need to take most from this contest is to realize that our homes are such personal, private places and regardless of color choices or personal style it is a place that supports people and makes them happy. This is really a tribute to that place we can all get away to, that one place we can really make mistakes in and have them turn into beautiful extensions of ourselves. The backdrop where families form memories. Such a special, almost sacred place that regardless of style and budget is something everyone can learn to appreciate not just because of the way it looks but because of the amazing individuals that inhabit it.

That is what this contest was about color and how it helps support and inspire the lives inside these homes, and I don't think there is one entry that fell short of this. I think every entry should be proud of what they entered. I am so very thankful to have had the opportunity to share in the excitement and candor of every home in this contest.

Thank you again, it was truly an honor.

Hey Schoolie, it is the same sofa in both pictures...

picture 4 is a view from the sitting room to the bedroom.

picture 5 is a view from the bedroom to the sitting area.

so yeah they are just reversed views.

diyordie- It's a duplex so the front door down stairs is red and my entrance door upstairs is the green. Sorry no magical paint.

Thank you everyone for the comments and votes!

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the really great comment.

I think you're space is amazing!

This has been a really interesting competition especially because regardless it takes a lot to put up something so personal and have to save face as people post really hurtful things about you that don't even relate to the space...

Either way if there are enough people out there that want to "drop kick me off my bike" and I lose this round, you have my vote to the end.

Good luck!

Kav 122...seriously? haha

Open any design magazine and the first page of their article is a picture of them in relation to there space...in my example its my front yard. I know this isn't a magazine but I was trying to set up a story.

...I really don't see the point in posting a comment like that other than the satisfaction you get in constantly coming back to this page to chuckle at your own remark.

I will admit though it is kind of funny...especially the drop kick part.

haha...wow!

I'll make sure to not be on my bike in your neighborhood!

trust me I wasn't the only contestant with a photo...I got the idea from another contestant... I was trying to make a story...plus it shows the exterior of the home.

haha... I am not pompous and I certainly hate that people are conceiving it that way!

Also I prefer my syle to be called Granny Chic, Thank you!

Hey Gretchen thanks for the really kind words.

haha the lamp came out of necessity as I don't have a light/vent above my stove...it was one of those accidental, purely utilitarian moves that ends up looking fun.

I'd love to be a kid growing up in your home...bold color choices and a worthy opponent.

Good Luck!

haha...the Donna Lewis lyrics bring me back! and now the song is stuck in my head.

I think your house is great and fun...

gail.baby. had nothing better to do on a friday night so she spent the whole evening posting rude comments on almost every color entry to make herself feel better about herself. sad.

gail.baby.- I feel sorry for you...if your house is anything like your personality and manners I'm sure it quite disgusting.

these comments are great...you're making me blush...haha

seriously, Thank you all for such great feedback.

I think it is so important that great design is accessible for everyone. Nothing in my home did I pay amazing amounts for and yes it was found at neighborhood thrift stores, mom and pop antique shops, and the side of the road. It feels great to go home with an inexpensive item that you know someone before you cherished that will be special to you and completely unique.

This IS a rental and in all my years of renting I never expect to get the deposit back. Life is way too short to not feel completely at home whether you are renting or not.

Ok a few questions...the bedspread is actually an old chenille one I found at a local thrift store a few weekends ago for 9 dollars...I was quite excited.

The black shade/crystal pendants in the hall are actually from Hobby lobby believe it or not! haha.

The green/yellowish globe is from Lula B's my favorite local antique shop with tons of 50's, 60's and 70's treasures.

Well thank you all again for the truly awesome comments...

Fellow Renters-

...don't take design or your home too seriously....stop worrying about that damn rental deposit...and take risks in heapfuls...

Cheers,

Jesse Ryan
