We have a pug-beagle mix that we adopted from a rescue. He is wonderful for our apartment! He sleeps most of the time or just chews on a bone. He has just enough energy so that he is still pretty active on our walks and activities but is always crashed out when he is home. Only issue, the beagle in him likes to howl when he gets overly excited or when he is left alone (an issue we are slowly fixing).

I definitely agree with going with the dogs temperament.... Mixes and pure breds can range in energy level and space needs. We got lucky that ours is just the right size and energy for our space!
