a friend in Holland tells me they rent art there, and when they are bored with it it's easy to change.

Getting a Fresh Perspective: How I Learned to Love an Eyesore

I have rarely seen anything as stupid, some tiny percentage of a car is adapted to fit a pre-existing bicycle. This is little to do with function and will do nothing to aid recycling but the sort of people who would buy such a thing are as likely to display it as ride it. This is about art more than the environment.

I've never seen so many comments in a thread on this site, my contribution is 1) a joke, are passive remarks the response to passive smoking? and 2) to state my position, my neighbours smoke right next to our fence and it wafts in and fills my house, it must be to do with air currents. I get on well with them but I hate it and have bitten my tongue so far (>5 years). I have considered a fan and might look into this now.

Less angular? But there are more of them per shape so shouldn't that be more angular or not as sharp? Perhaps I am being obtuse about this, but it is not a reflex response.

absolutely and unlike vinyl vs cd, here in the UK FM radio is far better than digital due to the level of compression applied.

you haven't defined better are you listening to it or looking at it? you can get some ugly turntables if that is your benchmark. If you want to look beyond the myth read this:

Quick History: The Anglepoise and Jieldé Task Lamps

I think Anna doesn't understand the principle, Hooke's law written in 1660 states that the force exerted by the spring is proportional to the extension. Carwardine used each spring or pair of springs to act against the weight of each part of the lamp. If you have an older one which used higher quality springs (which followed Hooke's law better) you don't need to use the friction adjusters, it balances in equipoise, in whatever postion you put it. The retro-industrial chic Jielde lamp needs to be clamped in place and is not in balance. I suppose the Richard Sapper Tizio which both balances (by counterweight) and uses the arms as conductors is too last-year.
