I tried to do just that - for years - in the condo my ex-husband and I bought just before our son was born. In fact, I ended up living there with my ex for longer than we were there together. But in the end it never really was home after he left, and I now believe I did myself, and more importantly my son, a huge disservice by staying there so long. It took a completely horrific new (chain-smoking) neighbor downstairs to finally force me to put the place on the market and get out. It hasn't sold yet, but I'm now renting in a new town, in a place I absolutely adore, with a landlady I love and a new life for myself and my son. Staying just didn't work for me. I'm happy now, but wish I hadn't waited so long. Things Fall Apart: Living Alone in a Space After a Breakup |

Love the shape - the fabric not so much. Since it's so inexpensive, maybe having it reupholstered would be worth it. Let us know what you decide! Is This Couch Hideous or Awesome? Good Questions |

Does your town or one near you have an annual garden tour? Mine does and I've found it incredibly helpful in terms of ideas, inspiration and learning about which native plants work best in my microclimate (I'm near the ocean). Landscaping Newbie: Where Do I Start? |

Definitely cozy, though now that I'm renting again, I'm learning to love white walls (as long as they're covered with art!). And everything is organized so there's not much clutter. Minimal vs. Cozy: Which is More \"You\"? |

It's nice enough, I suppose. Just looks very corporate, like a viewing courtyard outside a waiting room. I find it way too sterile and 'samey' for my tastes. I don't thing it's soothing, just boring. Before & After: Greenline's Urban Garden The Gardenist |

I went to the market in Boston last year and was very disappointed - it was tiny, and not outside. It was in one small marquee-style tent that was overheated and crowded. No fresh air, no entertainment, no food or mulled cider ... I won't bother going this year. Just have to wait until I can afford to fulfill my dream of going to Stockholm for the markets some day! I've also had poison ivy rashes requiring medical attention, including one serious case of blood poisoning, but I have never known till this minute that poison ivy produces berries! One more thing to watch out for while in the woods ... I hope the rash turns out mild for you ... :-( Pretty but Poisonous, and a Bit of Phenology The Gardenist |

Well, I am one of a divorced couple, and I worry that our son is not getting the benefit of the traditional family holiday that my siblings and I enjoyed growing up. This year, my ex is spending Christmas with his new girlfriend's family. Fine, except that it's a 'Daddy' year, which means not only will my son not see his Mom (and my family, who he is very close to), but he will be spending the holiday with virtual strangers. I'm a mess!! I hope as he grows older he will choose to do what HE most wants to do, because he is having to spend his childhood doing what his parents' breakup has imposed upon him.
