@ellonwy -- too funny! Nothing worse than needing garlic or an onion and only the gas station of 7-11 is close enough for that particular moment.

Having worked for NICUs for over three years, donated breastmilk can be a real life-saver for mothers and babies. There aren't many breastmilk 'banks' around the country, but it would be worth researching. I know that there are many mothers and babies out there that would really benefit from the donation.

@hethyr--too funny.

One of my dogs (we have two, plus a cat), is so amazingly punctual you could set a clock to him. All it takes is about three days of consistent awakening at the same time and on the fourth day, Z will be standing by the side of the bed chuffing and barking to let me know he's awake and I best be, too. Z is a much more charming alarm clock than anything available on the market!

@talllean78 -- I had no idea that Fels-Naptha soap could prevent against poison ivy! I use my bar all the time for stains and such, but didn't realize it had additional properties. Thanks!

I almost always hand write a thank you note for any act of hospitality not involving parents or partner (though, perhaps they deserve a thank-you the most of all!). I even do it for friends I've known 20 years, and especially those with SOs that I may not necessarily know very well. Everyone likes to be appreciated!!

@JosieWales: I read your post aloud to my boyfriend and the first thing out of his mouth was "that sounds JUST like you". I've been in that exact position before. Except they were my own knives (shame...).

I love fava beans and actually eat them uncooked, just shucked out of their furry homes. I think that comes more from impatience than flavor.

I have two much prized glassybabies that I just adore and received as gifts, but I am not yet in the market to be purchasing them for myself. But, I love that they're from my hometown and that actually makes them even more special to me.

If you click through to the original article, it states: "Please note that if it’s Wednesday, you also want green. Sunday, you want yellow. For some reason, the system does not include those days. Some say it’s because bakers did not used to bake on Wednesdays and Sundays".

Who knew!

I have absolutely nothing against anyone who wants to use this product -- who am I to judge them? I know why I probably won't by it (seems FAR too gimmicky, likely sodium laden, would rather just add fresh herbs to my current cream cheese), but that's only my choice. If this helps a busy mother at home feed her kids, or a single person at home who is looking for an easy twist than good for them! At least they're cooking, which is a step in the right direction.

nooooo....I LOVE giraffes -- and have since I was a toddler -- I hope they don't turn (in terms of trends) into birds! Not much I can do about it, I know.

Our 3 year old Wheaten, our 2 year old Glenn of Imaal Terrier/Mutt, as well as our 1 year old kitten all share a bed with my SO and myself. Our Wheaten tends to rotate out a lot more as he prefers the much cooler wood floors -- but, he still sleeps right next to the bed. The other two take their places on our bed and rotate around the bed based on which one of us is more twitchy that night. Usually, we awake to the 2-year old pup curled up right between our heads and our kitten on top of one of our legs. We wouldn't trade it for anything. The sheets do get dirtier faster, but that's okay.

I used apple cider vinegar for months as my shampoo and it really does work well, ESP in my house which has exceptionally hard water. That being said, my fiance did say that my hair smelled a bit "like bbq" some times. That could be due the higher apple cider vinegar to water ratio I used. I eventually went back to my original shampoo (kerastasse), which did the same without smelling like a kitchen product albeit a lot more expensively. But, for $4 you can't be the stuff!

@daylight - I never knew where the word "putz" came from! Embarrassingly enough, I think I always assumed it had a hebrew background, for some reason.
