We recently bought our first house, and with it we bought a fair amount of new (to us) furniture. One of the purchases I was most excited about was our couch; I spent hours looking for the perfect fit for us, and I finally found it! It is big enough for us both to lie down on comfortably, and even with our two cats lazing we feel it it quite ample. My regret is the fabric I chose. Our last couch was a taupe microfiber Craigslist find, and it really started to look worn after a couple of years (not to mention how nervous I got when someone holding a glass of red wine sat on it). The fabric I chose for our new couch is dark brown, and it is not microfiber. It looks great for 5 minutes after we vacuum or lint roll it, but then one of the cats gets on it or a cracker crumb drops on it and then it's all over. Dark fabric hides bigger stains, but all the little crumbs and cat hairs are highlighted. Also, because it is not microfiber it seems harder to lint roll; the little crumbs get caught up in the fabric. All in all we love the couch, but I'm counting the days til it's time to reupholster.
