We have an office / guest bedroom, and I hope to always have a space like this in my home. Our two boys share a bedroom so that we can have the room for the office/guests, and it really makes me feel like I have SPACE, and that my kids don't own half my house. I realize I have the luxury of an extra room, and I thank my lucky stars for it.

I like Navajo White from Sherwin Williams. This is the color of all my doors, baseboards, and ceilings. It's a warm white, and it looks great against all the colors of my walls, which are taupe, blue, and green.

When can I move in? This is adorable from top to bottom. I LOVE those built in cabinets. And all the touches of robin's egg blue. My new favorite color. So many lovely little details.... SWOON!

Great article, Misty! You really hit the high points. I would add Torchy's Tacos to the list of yummy food. And the Hike & Bike Trail around Lady Bird Lake as a "must do" when in Austin.

You've reminded me of all the great things there are here in my home town, and now I want to get out and do them!

I'm searching for the perfect shade of "sea glass" paint. Any recommendations? (I am thinking about it for my home's exterior, of all things.)

Last summer my husband and I had a "vacation" at home. The kids stayed with grandparents, and we got to do things around town that we don't normally take the time to do. Saw a comedy show, ate at a great restaurant, went kayaking on the lake, etc., etc. It was relaxing, and we explored our own city and felt like tourists. I wouldn't take my vacation this way all the time, but I will definitely do it again when funds are low.

I agree with Daisy11's email tactics. I will read them (in limited bursts), but never reply. If you reply, people will think you are reachable, and that's never relaxing.

I think they stick out too far to be a practical shelf. I could see myself constantly bumping my shoulders or arms into these (depending on how high they are). No, thanks.

Yes, turquoise, or a shade of robin's egg blue. (Sort of Tiffany blue.)

I LOVE the stripey thing above the bed. But I am self-confessed "stripe-a-holic."

I did this in my last home, and it was lovely and a great space-saver. My home was small and there wasn't anywhere else to put an "office." The "office in a closet" solution helped get my husband's laptop off the kitchen table. Hallelujah!

Forgot to mention: the kimono on the wall is my favorite thing in the whole house. Stunning, quirky, fun and so beautiful! How often do you have to take it down to clean it, I wonder?

Lovely, lovely, lovely home. I want to move in!

This is by far my most favorite house tour EVER. It is absolutely charming, adorable, and works on every single level. I want to move in.

I love how you can see all the different wall colors from many vantage points in the home, and that they all work together. Really, really well done.

BRAVO!!!!!

I LOVE this look, too. Makes me wish I had a cute outdoor patio so I could string up some white lights.

I have to respond to pureevil's comment, for two reasons.
One because I used to have a white home with a red front door, and it was lovely. Then we painted the house yellow with a periwinkle blue front door, and it was also lovely. We liked it so much that we repeated the yellow/blue scheme on our current house, and we get lots of compliments.

Two because I also love the homes I see that are robin's egg blue! That is the one color I see trending the most the days. I call it "Tiffany blue," but robin's egg is a similar color. I think it looks fresh, modern, and really great.

I also agree with the first commenter who said the color of the home depends on the neighborhood it's in. My 'hood has lots of bungalows from the 1950s, and the trend around here is to paint them lively colors with coordinating trim and doors. I love it. It's like a basket of easter eggs all over the neighborhood. Pink, yellow, pale blue, green, even a purple house. It's great!

Nice project, but what's with the gratuitous shirtless photo? Not that you don't have a nice body and all, but really?

Great project. Love the look of it. The color is great and you really did a great job on the pattern. I wouldn't have been able to pull off the curvy lines. I don't have the patience.

As an aside, and as a Texan, I have to say I would NEVER drink a margarita that color. That's how you can tell it's made of "fake stuff." Tee hee!
