Splurge for the Turkish towels, even if you have to buy 2 at a time (but really, how many do you need?). You shouldn't have to pay more than $20 each for quality ones. I bought mine here: http://www.soapsantiochia.com. They get softer with each wash and last forever! Where Can I Find Non-Fluffy Towels?? Good Questions |

I ditched my terry towels for the turkish towels a couple of years ago. If you have a small, poorly ventilated bathroom, these will actually *dry* before the end of the day. Everyone who visits me winds up going to Eastern Market before they leave to get a couple for themselves. I bought mine in person at the market, but you can also get them online at www.soapsantiochia.com. Also love their olive oil bar and liquid soaps! The Ultimate Travel Companion: Peshtemal |

I bought my latex mattress from www.foamsweetfoam.com about 3 years ago. I'm in love with mine because of how comfortable it is to sleep on. It was expensive (and it looks like prices have gone up) but worth every penny. The Case for Buying a Latex Mattress |

I second the recommendation to browse through previous small cool contest entries. Also take a peek at this clip from the Nate Berkus show, they did a really nice job with this woman's little studio (and a regular bed). Regular, Daybed or Sofabed for Studio? Good Questions |

I think this room looks great! I do agree with OMARTIGER about moving the desk into the room and using one of the antique chairs and maybe the rug. You could also reupholster the seat on one of the old chairs to bring it "up to speed" with the new look. I never knew it was bad feng shui to work with your back to the room....guess I will have to reassess my own desk arrangement ;) Before & After: A Granny Office Goes Modern |

My floors have a urethane finish. Murphy's oil leaves a residue and dull finish. I've been using the Bona Kemi spray for years along with their microfiber cleaning pads. They also have a shine restoring product (forget name) that I use in the entryway and kitchen about once a year since they are the highest traffic areas in my apartment. I am pretty sensitive to chemicals (make my own cleaning products) and haven't had any problems with the Bona. Homekeeping 101: Cleaning Your Hardwood Floor |

That photo is the DWR min bed, but it only comes in gray now. You might be able to find one on craigslist. It does break down and can easily fit into a car or cab trunk. I love mine and found it on craigslist for abot 50% less than full price in new condition. Where to Find Metal Platform Bed? Good Questions |

I just replaced my covered ceiling lights with these! They seem pretty bright more like a 60-75 W halogen, which is perfect for the kitchen and entryway. Very happy and looking forward to not changing these lights for a long, long time :) EcoSmart LED Light Bulb Test Lab |

I have a pair of Japanese travel chopsticks that I keep in my purse at all times. They are similar to what gakusei described above, except the metal end is hollow and the wood end that you eat with slides inside making them very small and easy to carry around. I wish I knew the brand, it's not stamped on them and I picked them up at the Green Festival in DC a few years ago. Cutting Down On Disposable Chopsticks |

Overall I love the soft minimalism and sense of calm. As I learn to live with less, I find that I am calmer and more relaxed when at home. There's just less to take care of! I get the same feeling looking at this home. Well done! Enough Is Enough The Diversion Project |

Maxwell, I did something TOTALLY crazy! I ordered a mattress that I hadn't tested out, and I LOVE IT!!! I ordered it from http://www.foamsweetfoam.com/home, it's natural latex and comes in layers. The customer service was great, and I wound up getting a three layer med-firm-xfirm and have never slept better. They will send sample pieces of the different densities to help with your decision. Bonus-no mattress flipping EVER. It does sleep warmer than a spring mattress, because you don't have all that air underneath you. A Year in Bed: A Modest Proposal |

OK, as a DC resident, I have to throw this out there...DC has some of the strongest tenant rights laws in the country. If you don't want to move, or can't (for whatever reason) make sure you know what your landlord HAS to provide. DC has made it very easy to find out. Go to www.ota.dc.gov and look at the Tenants Survival Guide. Our building is in the process of blocking a proposed condo conversion for our building. Would You Move Just One Block? Good Questions |

I have a pair of Bose multimedia speakers hooked up to my Samsung HDTV.
