Beautiful room! The bunks are amazing! And guess what, my 3 year old LOVES New York too...where all of his family live, he loves to visit, and yes, talks about it all the time! In fact just this morning, he asked to check a book out on NY at the library. And moms and dads are allowed to put what they like in a child's room too...we all have to live there together, afterall. My kids usually like a lot of the stuff my husband and I like anyway. Fantastic space! Thanks for sharing! Oscar & Boots' 150 Square Foot Bedroom Kids Tour |

Totally agree! Start young and your kids can actually end up being a big help instead of a big pain in the kitchen. My 3 year old will try anything he has helped me prepare. Used gifts? Heck yes! My family celebrates Thriftmas every year in which we do a gift exchange with all gifts that we scored at thrift stores, consignment shops, yard sales, Craigslist, whatever! It's a highlight of the season as we each try to out do the other in terms of coolness or the price paid for the gift. Gifts From Craigslist: Score Or Scandalous? |

We just went out for the first time with a babysitter in our home (usually going out is reserved for trips back home to see our parents/siblings and we use them as babysitters.) And yes, it was a lot of work to get our two little ones ready for our 3 hour dinner excursion. I just made ravioli and meatballs and had it ready to eat by the time she came. I didn't want her worrying about preparing a meal with my 2 year old and 4 month old. I can see these ideas working best for a regular babysitter, like who cooks lunch or dinner meals on a regular basis for your kids. Easy Babysitter Recipes Weelicious |

Very warm, and feminine but not over the top girly. Exactly the type of room I would love for my daughter. Great job! My Room: Romane Montreal, Quebec |

The comments about those who had their kids going from a crib to twin or double bed are not relevant or helpful. Sorry! I'm not usually snarky with my comments, but it annoys me when someone asks a specific question and then people decide to give their opinion instead of just answering the question. That said...our almost 3 year old who is a bit on the tall side is still very comfortable in his toddler bed and I'm guessing he will likely be in it for another 6 months, maybe longer. My friend's son was in his until he was 4 years old. At What Age Do Kids Outgrow Toddler Beds? Reader Survey |

Those lunches are awesome! What kid, or adult for that matter, wouldn't think that was the coolest thing ever to open up at lunch time?! I think for those who have the time and desire, it's a fun, cool thing to do for your kids. For those who can barely get a regular lunch together, it will never happen. I see it as something to be used for inspiration, when I feel like doing something special, or as a way to jazz up an everyday lunch. Kids do respond to the way food is presented and it could definitely peek the interest of an otherwise apathetic eater. Awesomesauce Sack Lunch Inspiration This Lunch Rox |

@eq: Both of our parents are pretty good about staying away from the crazy plastic stuff since they know us and see the kinds of things we buy for our son. We have a harder time with other people whose gifts, although extremely generous and well meaning, are almost always gigantic, plastic, and noisy. On occasion we've taken them back to the store, of course, unless my son objects because he loves it. If he loves it, and plays with it, we keep it. We certainly have our share of plastic items, but the older he gets the more he's not interested in that kind of stuff. He's never been interested in the battery operated, large items. Is anyone else grossed out about the idea of putting the potty on a public toilet and then back into your own personal bag? We use one at home but I wouldn't want to use it in public and then put it back in purse. Just my opinion, but I get heebie jeebies about public toilet seats.
