I used chalkboard paint on the bottom of two crates and wrote the menu for our wedding on them. We put them on the place card table instead of printing individual menus for each guest. You can see a photo here.

Lentil stew with sauteed onion and garlic; a spice mix of curry, cumin, turmeric, and a pinch of cayenne; and whatever veggies are around (usually tomatoes, carrots, spinach, etc.). Sometimes we throw in chickpeas too. It's so versatile - anything goes!

Agua de Piedra Malbec is a go-to wine for us. It's around $10. I don't know the year, but we love it!

The every-other-week option worked fairly well for two of us. Some food rotted, but we also had a small compost bin which eased the guilt. I actually expected a little more variety and quantity, but we live in Chicago and heavy rains damaged a lot of crops early in the season. My CSA is located in Wisconsin and consists of about 20 farms, so that reduces the risk. There are also drop-off points throughout the city based on where you live, which made it easy for me to pick up my food.

I too loved discovering that I enjoyed foods like beets and cabbage, and the taste of all the veggies was far better than the produce section of the grocery store. The experience also inspired me to install baskets on the back of my bike, because while I didn't buy as much produce from the store, I still needed to supplement recipes. I think I filled up my gas tank three times this summer.

I've made that roasted acorn squash with chile vinaigrette recipe posted by kumquat. It was divine and simple too. I have two delicata squash from my CSA - any thoughts?

I made Laurie Colwin's curried broccoli soup recipe with a few sweet potatoes left over from my CSA. The taste was delicious - the perfect hot soup for a chilly night - but the consistency was off. Too watery. I think I should've used more yogurt to make it thicker. But I will try this one again, especially with winter almost here.

I received one of these in my CSA box right before Yom Kippur. After googling "Daikon" and "bagels" I brought it to my break-the-fast party. I peeled the radish, sliced it thinly, and set them out with the lox and veggies. They added a nice refreshing crunch to my sandwich, almost like cucumbers.

What a lovely cake! I've been learning to cook over the past year, so it's inspirational to see someone with the confidence and know-how to pull this off during the chaos of a wedding.

Congratulations!
