I absolutely love this house. It reminds me a little of my house, if I had better taste!
Not only is it a style I love, but it looks like a great, fun place to live.
I'm probably going to steal some of your style ideas.

Also I hope you all take the time to peruse The Gallery of Regrettable Food, wherein James Lileks takes you on a tour through horrible old recipe books. It really is a treat.

I love to collect old cookbooks. There are many things in them that I would never want to make, especially anything with gelatin or canned soups.
However, you can't beat the baking and sweets recipes. The best cakes, biscuits and candies seem to come from old cookbooks. I love my Martha Stewart baking book, but sometimes you just want plain chocolate cake, not some layered monstrosity with a million different flavors.

I'm not the world's greatest housekeeper. there are frequently clothes littering the floor of my room, as well as other parts of the house, but I Must have the kitchen clean and straightened up.
I personally cannot stand to have things in the sink. I just put everything in the dishwasher. Do other people not do this?

I still have my giant beige Game Boy.
Why were all computers/electronic accessories beige back in the day?

This is really cool. Love the bathroom, and you are very brave to have such white floors. They look amazing! That kitchen table is great too. What a different, interesting house.

This happens a lot to me, especially because I live alone. Cooking has seemed really joyless as of late, especially cooking for one. There are always so many leftovers, and despite all my efforts I still hate leftovers.
I've tried baking more and taking the cupcakes or cookies to the office. That way I don't eat them all, and I can satisfy my urge to bake.
We just get burnt out on things, be it cooking or decorating or anything else. Give yourself a break from cooking, and sooner or later you'll want to jump back in the kitchen.

I know quite a few people that have them and they never use them, they just end up being extra storage. I'd put that money towards a wine fridge or something else that would be more useful.

I gotta go with you on that, I think the room liiks much better with the door open. It seems like a wasted opportunity for more space and to incorporate some rustic touches to soften up the chilly modern aesthetic of that kitchen.

Bright shiny colors show dirt and hair a lot more easily than brown tones of natural wood. I had a bedroom with painted floors in a house I lived in, and I loved them but had to vacuum constantly!

Gotta go with pleiovn on this one. I'm pretty ick of hearing about Kale
Though some cucumber juice wouldn't go amiss in a cocktail or two, the rest of this just sounds unappealing. I even drink green juice regularly, but I don't really want it in my cocktail!

As a wise person once said, "Haters Gonna Hate".

I haven't read the book but all the irrational hatred towards this woman is equal parts amusing and mystifying to me. I also find the disparaging comments that have been lobbed at this book can be thrown equally at other cookbooks.
For example, most people like the Barefoot Contessa, (myself included) but many of her recipes are costly to make. The same can be said of Martha Stewart, or any number of other people with cook books. I know people on the internet love to have something to complain about, but it just seems like a bandwagon of senseless hatred to me.

I moved into a condo with no gas available and have inherited the older (and totally pristine) electric stove. It has coils, which are not the easiest to clean, but the thing boils water MUCH faster than the very expensive gas stove at my parent's house. I was surprised with how hot the electric stove gets. I actually have ended up not hating it, especially when you have the added plus of an electric oven. (gas ovens are awful in my opinion.)
You'll get used to it.

I've got to go withSterling Archer on this one.
A margarita has “Five ingredients. Tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, ice, kosher salt."
Why mess with a perfect thing?
