I've lived in a SoHo apartment w/ 3/4 exposed brick walls...for the past 4 years...and can tell you from experience....The ONLY color that looks good next to exposed brick is good old-fashioned white. Any other color makes it seem very dark and boxed in. If you want bold color, go for it w/ accessories...not wall color.

Never...never in a million years could I live without one! Life is just too short to sweat inside your home in the summer!

And why exactly couldn't the vase just sit on the wood countertop?

At AppleDeco....Yes they have them at several different stores here in the floral district of NYC. I still see them hanging up outside the shops. I can't speak for L.A. though. It was an easy project...and very inexpensive....I wish I took pics! All you need is one of those wicker balls...and a few cans of white spray paint.

I made this exact same thing years ago. But I didn't use yarn...I went to the flower district where they had these gigantic wicker balls...I guess around 36" in circumference. The cost was $25 dollars. I took it home...spray painted it white...and Voila. ALOT less work I would imagine than this yarn method. Just saying...

I don't think this a bad bathroom. I have seen HORRORS of bathrooms on A.T. and this is not one of them. Good bare bones. Youi could either go big color w. shower curtain and accessories...or embrace the whiteness. White shower curtains...white accessories...etc. I might actually recommend the latter option b/c of the size of the bathroom.

As a wearer of mainly black clothing....I know this would be a nightmare of shedding hair all over the back of your clothing. I had to get rid of all my sheepskin rugs because of this problem. Even the rugs on the floor...you sit down on them in pajamas...you're covered in white hair.

I agree with the comments...in order for a place to work in the minimalism genre....it must be pristine and have great bone structure....this does not.

This may sound odd...and I can't believe I seem to be the first posting regarding this...but I have always kept my litter-box in the bathtub.

I find the deep sides of a bathtub perfect for not getting any granules outside it.

The con, of course, is that you have to remove it every time you shower.

But I can put up with that for less mess!

I have been trying to find those yellow "flowers" for the better part of 2 years now! I live in NYC and even the flower district seems to have them only several times a year. They look so fun to me...I'd love to just have a nice bunch of those...

Yes dmh my comment was totally serious. I buy a new $1000 sofa at the start of every year...what I failed to mention was that I always donate my "old" sofa to either Salvation Army or Housing Works. So I am not wasteful at all...Whats wrong w/ someone wanting a firm "new" looking sofa every year??

I know this may sound harsh...but I think your only smart option is to replace it. I buy a new sofa at the start of every year and make it a point to only spend roughly $1000 on it. Sofas after the year mark I find do show wear and tear.
