While the apartment looks pretty cool and I love the red dobie, I can't get over the larger-than-life painting in the living room. I see one and only one thing when I look at it. I think I and probably everyone I know is way too immature to have that in my house. The jokes would be relentless.

Ha! Good catch on the dining table, rana! Those look like ironing board legs. Maybe he's just making do until the perfect table comes along?

That breakfast nook is heaven.

Do you mind sharing where you got that great pirate kite? I remember seeing it in Sibella Court's book and she is from Sydney also, I believe.

Such a lovely, cozy home.

Can you tell me anything about that painting in your living room - the one with the bare trees and moon? I love the style and colors used in it.

I'm very interested in the response to this question too.

These pillows were sold by Anthropologie a couple years ago. There is also a charcoal gray one shown in the movie too, I believe. You might try a search for suzani pillows for something similiar. Personally, I love the colors of the Anthropologie ones and will keep looking for them. I don't suppose anyone on here has one that they're willing to sell?

These are probably more modern than what you are looking for, but Anthropologie has some for under $500. They come in black, white, and red.

I think they are interesting, but my dog would turn it into a giant chew toy.

I apologize. I jumped to conclusions when you wrote about the paint color used, etc. If I ever had the guts to post my home on Apartment Therapy, I would be tempted to create false identities to praise the decor, so naturally it was the first thing that came to my mind. :) This is a tough crowd.

I'm sorry, Gingerpie, but I think it's bad form to post a fake stranger's gushing comment about your place and then answer questions as the owner, using the same user name. You need a thick skin to post photos of your house on AT.

There are some good suggestions above that would help the space feel more cohesive - using warmer colors on the walls to tie in the exposed brick and wood floors (both lovely) and clustering some of the artwork together. I also think that you need a couple more shelves to finish out the bottom of those two floor-to-ceiling bookcases. That just looks odd to me.

Overall, it's a nice place. It seems very spacious and filled with light.

I love this house! All of the paint colors are great and everything seems so fresh and organized.

I have a couple of source questions. Where did you get the black circle throw pillow on the bed (the one with the framed pictures around it)? Also, I was wondering if the octopus print is handmade or did you buy it somewhere?

Congratulations on having your home so complete in three months! I am still unpacking six months later.

This is beautiful! There are so many things I love about this place - the blue light reflecting off the green jar in the first picture, the soft lamplight throughout, the books stacked in the fireplace. Plus, anyone who gets their inspiration from a Tide box is cool in my book. Great job, Mariegael!

Does anyone know about those leaf pictures? It looks like they are made out of wood veneer.
