The result is very cool, but for the expense and installation time, many other options such as funky tile, 3Form, and ModulaArts panels would be a better investment. Apartment Therapy Chicago | How To: Install Inhabit Wall Flats |

While its not easy to see the fireplace completely, it seems like the best answer is to try to remove the black and other stains on the brick. Asside from doing that, satins would also be a cheaper solution. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Good Questions: Ideas for Hiding Fireplace? |

If they don't inspire you as candleholders, then try something new. Get them drilled through the center and turn them into pendant lamps. Apartment Therapy New York | Good Question: What To Do With These Candlesticks? |

The proportions of the 2 alcoves are just not right together. I would keep the lower aclove and fill with wood, and drywall over the top alcove. After that you can create a new mantel across the whole space, plus add larger artwork over the fire place. If you absolutely need media storage, then storage shelf like an Ikea Lack W shelf or CB2 Storage shelf instead of the mantle is good. The table throws me off more than the chairs in your space. My advice would be to strip the table and then dry paint it black, or replace it. The chairs would then match better, or could be stripped to natural wood. You can test strip the chairs on the bottom without risk. I now do most of my photography editing and processing right in my favorite place of my home-the living room couch. With my new large screen laptop, I enjoy my processing time much more when I have full access to a comfortable couch, my media center, and the kitchen close by. After years of being stuck in dark music studios and offices, I so enjoy the time in my bright and sun-filled living room. With Internet, printing, and hard drives all wireless-there is no place else I would rather be. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Do You Ever Work from Your Couch? |
