I actually used my veggie peeler, and it worked really well for me. I made chocolate, chocolate stout cupcakes with a Bailey's frosting, inserted a very tasty half butter, half PB mix with a bit of powdered sugar to thicken it up. Tasty.

I have a clothes drying rack a lot like the third photo on the top row. Rarely do I use my dryer (I live in an apartment building with a washer and dryer in the apt). I love that I have a balcony I can put the clothes out on and get that great fresh air scent, and in the winter, when drying my clothes inside, it acts as a natural humidifier. Saves money and better for the environment. I love that I can fold it up and it goes in between the fridge and the wall.

I love the Vanilla Bean Dry soda. It's a very light flavor, and very low in calories and sugar. Add some berries, and maybe some berry syrup to sweeten it up a bit if preferred, oh, that sounds delicious right now. The other options sound great too, but wanted to put my two cents in on the Dry soda.

You have to really make sure to stir frequently on medium to low heat, otherwise, you're just going to cook the eggs in the nog and it will be scrambled nog. At coffee shops, like Starbucks, they steam the beverage, which allows it to heat fast without cooking it. Unless you get it extra hot, which can sometimes cause it to cook a bit. If you do the soynog version, I wouldn't think you would have to cut it with more soy milk, since soynog is not real eggnog, unless you don't want the flavor as strong.

I also like Celebration Roast http://www.fieldroast.com/fieldroast_celebrationroast06.pdf It's meaty, with out trying to imitate a certain meat. I think a lot of meat eaters who try faux meat are expecting a certain taste and texture. With this you aren't expecting anything. What you get is tasty and it doesn't contain soy like a lot of imitation meats. Tofurky's and Quorn's imitation turkey is good. It helps though when you haven't had real turkey in a while to compare it with.

I think this would be even cooler if it had a bed that could fold out of the wardrobe with shelving behind the bed, or a drawer in the lower part of the wardrobe. If you had company over and only had space in the living room, or just needed an extra bed "room" how easy it would be for them to have their own personal space in your space.

Either way, I still love it.

I would think most vegans cook at home 90% of the time. Veggies have it a bit easier. There's more prepared foods and fast(er) foods and more places to eat out for them. Hence less cooking in a kitchen, less knife wear. Even more options for omni's. Unless you live somewhere like Portland, to sustain oneself (as a vegan) takes a lot of cooking. It's a bit different I think. I know meat eaters. I was a meat eater. I cook a lot more veggies, a lot more root veggies, a lot more things I hardly ever ate before to diversify my diet then when I was a meat eater. I'm not vegan, but my husband is. There's a lot you can't eat as a vegan (or rather choose not to eat). But I totally understand the quote that vegans are hardest on their knives. I've never ate so many fruits and veggies in my life before my husband went vegan.

Agreed. I have to much little stuff as is. I love getting practical things. This year I asked for some nice silverware for Christmas (as the kind i have now is mostly plastic with a metal end and is snapping in half).

I also love getting TOM'S shoes (www.tomsshoes.com) It's great to get a pair of shoes, which seem to always be needed by me, as I usually only get them around this time of year. I don't like shopping much. PLUS, for each pair you buy, a pair is sent to a child in need of shoes. Brilliant!

I'm all about hand making my gifts and cards. It helps that I sew, knit, craft, and take photos though. But gifts from the heart are the best really.

So as I was sitting here reading all of this, the timer goes off on my Mac and Cheese. I thought to myself.. oh I'll get it in a second...Luckily I heard the noise of the noodles starting to stick to the pan as all the water was evaporating. Almost had a kitchen disaster as I was reading about kitchen disasters!!

(Most of my kitchen disasters come with the line...because I forgot to set the timer...now I need a timer with a snooze button!)

I don't have children, but I remember being a child. This picture made me think of all the times when I was little that I did the dishes and was too short to do them with out standing on the chair (my mom of course was helping). I had a blast doing chores with my parents and really liked being included. I appreciate it today too, I think it makes me a better worker.

And being in the service industry I really appreciate what ksg said: "When we go out for coffee, I do insist on her helping to clean up the table after we're done just to get her in the habit of leaving a clean place. Too few grownups do that, so I can't count on her just learning it through observation." Just wanted to say thanks and wish more parents did the same with their children.

The yummy containers are cute, but the color with the tiny slightly darker dots make me think of band-aids. So I don't know. But deep down I'm a penny pincher, so if it's cheaper, I'll prob. go for that one.

I LOVE this cookbook. My husband wanted to go vegan (we were both vegetarian) and I had no idea how to cook vegan. I was newly vegetarian as it was and Betty Crocker taught me meat, starch and vegetable was a meal. SOo...

pg. 98 Black Bean Burgers

pg. 255 Lemon Pound Cake...probably the tastiest thing I've ever made. If I go anywhere and have to bring some food to take, I take this. Easy and no fail.

pg. 133 Chickpea Cutlets

pg. 182 Cholent Stew

pg. 249 Apple Galettes

pg. 200 Curried Udon Noodle Stir-Fry

These are just a few. It's such a great book, and like it said in the article, there are so many good tips and you'll want to read them all because they're fun(ny) and really great ideas.

I buy my water at the store when I grocery shop with reusable jugs. I grew up with excellent well water that tasted more pure than most bottled waters so my taste buds are spoiled into thinking water shouldn't taste like anything. Not sulfer or iron or chloride. So Reverse Osmosis it is.

I don't normally use a dryer so I don't bother buying them for the rare occasion that I do. I do like that they make your close smell extra fresh, but it's not worth it for me.

Might be cool with a very small plant, maybe one that hangs over the pot. The tricky part I'm sure would be finding something that fits the spot.

I'm with the border people as well. If you have some simple frames with simple prints, or in this case, it looks like dried floral, I think it's a nice idea. Lengthens the room, cleans up the walls for things like really great lamps or globes or just open spacing. I wouldn't do it in every room, but I think it works here. I recently hung some small photos at eye level...when you're sitting on the couch on the half wall separating the kitchen and living room. I say, once you know the rules, they're meant to be broken! :)

I love it. and I would def. recommend chalk markers. They dry better and look less messy than chalk (unless you're into that). Plus, if they get too dried on, Magic Erasure (Mr. Clean product) takes the stuff right off (I know, I work at a coffee shop, and had a few signs get rained on and that stuff dries on to the sign like glue, it's the only thing that works!) I love the idea, and might be trying it myself. What an easy way to fix a blah table.
