@Mrs. Puma - it's true, I have a hard time cooking from them all but at least there's potential there someday, right? ;) I justify it as a "useful" collection. I move around too much to have collections of anything fragile.

@Marne - I love pens too and have quite an assortment of them (that I'm quite possessive of!). I don't write many letters though - maybe I could use them to make notes in my cookbooks! haha

What's the Weirdest Thing You Collect?

I collect cookbooks from the places I visit. I always try to find one that has a dish I ate or specific to the region I'm in. Food is so closely attached to culture that it's a great way of remembering where you've been!

I used to live in a building on the sketchy side of town with crumbling over parking garages across the street, an abandon building next door and a youth center two houses down. My roommate and I put up with more than we should have - like teenagers doing drugs in the next door building and gang activities. Had I not been fresh out of college and foolish, I would have called the police quite often!

One day I was unloading groceries (ground floor apartment) and left the building door open (slightly cracked since it swung shut behind you anyways, just wouldn't always latch) for 2 minutes...I came outside to see a kid walking off with my bike, who promptly told me he was "testing it for a flat" when I yelled at him.

Another night, I woke up to fire trucks outside our building because someone set the abandoned building on fire and it was spreading to our building.

I guess what I'm saying here is that you should absolutely call the police. Otherwise, things will get worse and worse - like they did on my street. I'm very thankful I moved out!

It's a toss up between pulled pork and pot roast. Both are sooo delicious, it's hard to choose just one!
