@EngineerChic, I completely agree. I'm 39 and not in a relationship, but I love the confidence I feel in wearing flattering, comfortable underthings - nobody knows, but that gives me a little secret :) it's one of the ways I take care of myself.

no, it shouldn't be a deal-breaker in a relationship, but relationships are about caring for each other, and if your guy or girl likes to see you in non-ratty undies, then making an effort is not bending to sexism, it's loving :)

awesome! after cleaning, remove the skirt & upgrade legs to mcm-style wooden tapered, or possible some cool metal ones.

i love both lilacs and lilies of the valley, but my favorite is the peonies my grandmother grew in abundance, at their home in Ohio.

I understand why the sectional works for their space, but I really like those blue chairs in the before - does anyone know what/where??

i purchased ikea hemma cords online, then wrapped them in neon duct tape - took a while (i ran the tape lengthwise down the cord, rather than twirling it around, so it wouldn't have wrinkles), but they look great!

I second (or third or fourth) the clementines - if you have an international market in your area, you can often find produce much cheaper than in typical chain grocery stores. I live in Indianapolis, and Saraga has beautiful clementines, w/ the stems & green leaves still on, for $2/lb!! they taste like candy too :)

@engineerchic - as an art student in a small art school, i can tell you that my school gallery hosts a student show, with work for sale, only once a year, and this is a juried show, with only 1 piece by select students. the student clubs usually hold their own, smaller sales before Christmas, but these are usually advertised "in-house", for other students. not ideal, i agree, and that may just be my school, but you may need to contact the office at the school to find out when these sales are held.

alternatively, there are a ton of small galleries, community art centers, and coffee shops that routinely display student art for sale, and these may be more accessible. many larger towns & cities also now host "first friday" events, or similarly scheduled "open studio" nights, when all the art centers & studios are open for several hours on a friday night, every month.

hope this helps - student artists really need & appreciate your support, so good luck!!

i use a large piece of mounted (unframed) art to camouflage my flatscreen - props in front when the TV is not in use, sits on the floor in front when it is, no construction or new purchases needed :)

@LaureltQ - wax adds a bit of "body" to the mineral oil, so it's a bit thicker & doesn't run everywhere. Also, because the wax is a solid at room temperature, it forms a bit more of a protective layer, and can be buffed to a nicer shine than just the oil alone.

I'm a woodworker, and I use this on wooden spoons and bowls I make, as well as to keep my own kitchen utensils looking great!

grapefruit rosemary daiquiris from southern living - very festive & refreshing! we actually treat them like a sorbet course, and drink them as palate cleansers. use good quality grapefruit juice and the leftover fresh rosemary from holiday cooking.

The quilt looks a lot like the one my grandmother made for my parent's wedding, back in the 70's - if I'm not mistaken, those are vintage fabrics.

great find! it's a rectangle, so pretty straightforward - the risks are minimal & if you're not crazy w/ the way it turns out, you learned enough to try again, or get you through until you have the funds to pay an upholsterer. also, there are great youtube videos & instructions on this site & others, so read a few tutorials before you start, and you should be fine.

as for bolsters, upholstery foam is ridiculously priced, so you might consider a bunch of throw pillows along the back for now. good luck!
