I'd like to second what Jane said. It's not that unheard of to deal with your mail once or twice a week.

Sorting the mail just isn't the first thing on my agenda once I get home. Rather, I have two dogs who are anxious to go outside immediately and do their business. Dealing with the mail quickly is a great idea, but it's not the realistic option for some people.

I tried the Beef Hand Pies from Everyday Food last week. If you make them, consider adding sauteed onion and much more in the way of seasonings. They were pretty and flaky, but bland.

I grew up in south Georgia and have definitely attended a Sip 'n See or two. My experiences with them have been on the bridal side of things, as mentioned by previous commenters. I have friends in Atlanta who are also familiar with them, so I wouldn't categorize it as a rural thing. Food and drink at a Sip 'n See is pretty much like Southern shower food -- a pretty punch or minted tea, cheese straws, cookies, homemade mints, sugared pecans, pound cake, chicken salad, etc.

Hands down, this is my favorite so far. Love the use of reds and oranges against the more neutral backdrop. The lanterns and pennants are wonderful!

My favorite is the combination of a homemade dressing using fig-infused vinegar, along with fresh pears, dried cherries, gorgonzola, candied pecans and two colors of baby romaine. I like to mix the crumbled cheese in with the dressing before tossing to coat everything else, which ensures that bits of deliciousness cling to all parts of the salad.

Pot roast... chili... cheese grits... mulled cider... and possibly some applesauce in the future!
