Keep in mind the heat point for any pot handles - I've thought about it for my cast iron dutch oven, but if I want to use it for baking in the oven, it will get too hot.

I've been making my own since January... I was gifted some moonshine for the holidays, and I certainly wasn't going to drink the stuff.

Being out of (or I can't find) ONE CRUCIAL THING. Happens to me all the time, and necessitates a trip to a different market.

I bought these beans from Amazon and am making my own extracts... such a good deal, and the quality is perfect. I ended up selling the extras I had because there were too many for me to use up in a reasonable amount of time. (So far my best extract is in a bottle of Midnight Moon moonshine I was gifted... )

I'm one of the unfortunate people for whom cilantro tastes like soap. I hope it is overcome-able though... this gives me hope!

I have that first bed, the one from Bassett. I LOVE it. It comes apart so it's relatively easy to move and the construction is wonderful.

In storage, I have three of the true vintage desks (well, two desk/chair combos and then lone seat that would have been in the back row).

They don't fit into my decor at all at the moment, but they're special because they come from the one-room schoolhouse my grandmother attended in Nebraska.

My issues are usually with texture, not taste. This makes me severely dislike food like mushrooms and oysters.

I also very much dislike avocados and cilantro, though I've tried hard to like both!

I've only very recently started to like raw tomatoes (I, like omglawdork, previously only liked them cooked). I only like fresh locally grown ones though.

My cat was completely declawed by his previous owners, so he's indoors only. My new place (on the 2nd floor) has a great little side balcony... I made the mistake of thinking he was smart enough not to jump down, and stepped away from the balcony for a few minutes.

Thankfully, he ended up in the fenced-in backyard, unhurt, and very confused as to how to get back UP on the balcony. So until I've installed screen on the railing, he's not allowed out there.

Anybody have tips for using window units? I've either always had no a/c or central air, but my new place has a couple window units. I'm curious as to what I can to do improve efficiency and/or any maintenance tips I need to know.

Do yourself a HUGE favor: take it to a professional framer (aka someone that has certifications in framing [] - NOT the framing department at Michael's or the like) - they can be sure that the map is mounted using preservation quality materials (including non-acidic matting and UV protective glass). It's going to be expensive, but if you're serious about wanting to preserve it (and display it) it's really the only viable option.

When choosing a place for display do your best to ensure that it does not receive direct sunlight or is exposed to other conditions (like extreme temperature changes, fluctuation in humidity, exposure to pollutants like smoke, etc).

If you cannot afford to have it professionaly framed, I suggest buying a preservation quality box to house it until you can afford to have it done. is a good resource for such boxes.

I have a folding table and chairs I keep just for such occasions. You can usually find folding chairs on craigslist inexpensively, and I know my set wasn't terribly expensive from Target to begin with.

I grew up on Miracle Whip, but since living in the South, I am a Duke's convert.

I also only use mayo when making salads (potato, chicken, tuna, egg...) or deviled eggs. I'm generally not a huge fan of mayo otherwise.
