I'm a cancer, and could not care less about how well stocked the kitchen/pantry is.

i would ignore the calls for reupholstery, and especially painting. really? painting? i think you should lose the pillows and throw that you currently pair with it and opt for some neutrals... but i think the right teal would work very well too. you have a bright orange sofa. that's cool... it has a very mad men vibe... so look to the interiors of that show for inspiration.

i actually went to a barbecue at this house last weekend, and the decor is very, very nice... but it feels a little like it's a ready for a catalog photoshoot. the green chairs with the blue buttons are everything. i had no idea it was a novogratz project... the home office is really the best room in the house. i assume a proper tour is to come?

i think, even in your examples, that it's more about how the "trendy" elements are used, rather than the trends themselves. i think everything above can stand the test of time if the execution is tasteful and doesn't look like a home depot display.

what you didn't list above, but i think we need to talk about is mosiac glass tile. it will forever look like a middle-market hotel bar to me.

Agreed. Hack the table. Add a drawer. It would look great with an enameled metal drawer below.

Sorry, missed the 7:17 post above. Are the doors still there?

Also, love the red chairs at the kitchen table.

I don't understand the doors in the garden. Guys?

Built in cabinet. For sure. Drawers on the bottom, shelves on the top. Depending on whether or not it needs to be flush with the wall for traffic purposes, it could also be a nice desk area- maybe with a drop-down front like a secretary. For whatever reason, whenever I see a home with a nice built in piece of furniture, I'm always impressed.

I'm not sure how I missed this post! I would:

1. Get rid of the oval mirror. It doesn't fit in the space.

2. Get rid of the cabinet over the toilet. It makes the space feel smaller than it is.

3. Change the light fixture. It needs to not have that terrible curve.

4. Demo the weird backsplash.

5. Repair the wall where the backsplash was.

6. Paint the walls something in the grey family, skewing towards the green or blue.

7. Hang a new mirror that has a frame. Doesn't need to be fancy at all.

I don't think these improvements would break the bank at all, and would make it feel less hodge-podgey.

I'm sorry, the fabric is a miss for me. I think the color palatte is a bit off and I'm not a fan of the composition of the "flowers."

I think a well-done shower with a seamless glass partition is a beter option than a plain-old tub with a shower curtain.

i think there are some good pieces in here, but i don't care for the assembly at all. i think they took the black/white/red color scheme a bit too seriously.
