Unfortunately, in my building I'll have to relegate my tune blasting to headphones. I understand what you mean, though, by "get into it." If a chore is tedious, make a game out of it! When hanging laundry or matching socks, I'll coordinate colors... I'll stack and play tetris with the dishrack to fit the most on there. It sounds ridiculous (or OCD) but if there's no way to get around stuff like that, you might as well make it fun!

I hate those giant hurricanes or glass cylinder vases with stuff like sand, beads, glass pebbles, and/or pillar candles, balls of twine or fruit in them. Every time I see one I want to smash it or hijack it and fill it with pennies, bottle caps or gum wrappers.

ight as well!

So often, I see "Look For Less" type fashion or design articles and shows and think to myself, they really don't get it. It's just not the same 'feel' or 'context.' Well, YOU GOT IT. Great collection. (More, please!)

Whatever the criticism, I think the fact that it was DONE and you learned from it trumps anyone's negativity. At least you tried and did something, instead of not doing it. Even the negators are learning from your process.

The apartment itself is quiet and serene and beautiful, but it seems "staged" with all the plants and no personal effects or decor or art, at all. If they truly live this way, it must be a different kind of philosophy to keep things so simple, where my instinct is to collect and to clutter and show who I am. I have absolutely no idea who these people are or how they live. It's probably all hidden in every nook and cranny of every cabinet, for the duration of the shoot, at least.

I am head over heels over this whole place.
Can I marry this space?
Or at least rub up against a table leg or something?

(...only in the hope that the magic will transfer to my own shabby little dwelling.)

Whether or not the bed is secure, it's an emotional (albeit irrational) response there that is unsettling. The architects didn't give this very real human response much consideration. It'll be difficult to tell most people "oh it's safe, just get over it."

Personally, I think I'd get sick of going up and down all those stairs when the baby wakes up a few times in the middle of the night. There's potential for accident, here. Not from the bed, but from the parent in a sleep deprived, half dazed state, slipping down the stairs.

I would love to live in this house!! My only criticism is that it's a bit too brown. (I would have the same beef with a severe all white, modern home.) Some complain when there is post after post of cookie-cutter midcentury modern and beg to mix it up a bit. Then, when something this quirky is shown, it's either compared to grandma's 70's Minnesota parlor, or "contrived" and "trying too hard." Eh, Taste is taste, and you have a right to see or not see the nuances of beauty, humor and connection between things new and old, natural and human crafted, made in this environment. If you can't tell the difference between this, and meema's rumpus room, you shouldn't critique.

As for the animals, some think AT should censor themselves though animal products have been used to shelter throughout human history, many are renewable, and all are biodegradable. Lots of these items look vintage, or the animal was consumed. It's not like she went out and bought a new mink coat. When everything in one's home and on one's body is plastic or polyester, you have to wonder how many more chemicals in processing or materials to end in landfills you're contributing to this planet. I'll stick to my wool blankets and down duvets!

I can't imagine doing laundry once a week. As a single working gal, time efficiency is more key than space. Since most of my linens come from thrift stores at a few bucks a pop, pick only the most fun and mix it up so I don't get bored of my bed. As others have said, you can repurpose worn sheets. I've seen cute rugs knit or sewn (even dresses) from worn sheets and towels. Maybe being a conscious consumer isn't getting rid of stuff so you can go out and buy more, but finding creative ways of reusing what you have.

I think rusty or too-worn things should be used in moderation in the bathroom. I'd be afraid of my bare feet touching the floor. It just looks dirty.

Also, did anyone notice that the towel embellishments appear to be cut from talit? (Jewish prayer shawl) The idea of a ritual object being styled into something to dry your butt with seems somewhat inappropriate.
