I don't understand why people keep ruining this furniture by painting it. With a little TLC it could look beautiful again, not painted.

Actually having my wood floors buffed and coated this week. I was told NOT to use Bona, Murphy's or any shine product. Using a vacuum can scratch the floors. Most floors can be dusted with a microfiber mop. We do not wear our shoes in the house. I do have 2 dogs and the biggest problem is hair. My aunt was a housekeeper for many years. She would use a slightly damp shammy on the floors on hands and knees.

I have used various cleaning services over the years. I have 4 children (now adults) and with their schedules when they were younger, it was nice to have a clean house. I mostly used services. I would have a great one and then she would leave and then be replaced with a not so great one. I even got one that was an alcoholic that made a big mess. The cleaning service said I shouldn't have alcohol out (I did not). The person I have now works on her own. I am finding that although she used to do a great job, she isn't so great anymore. My dilema is that she just got divorced and really needs the money. Now I have to tell her she is ruining my wood floors because of the way she cleans them. I think you really have to hire someone on your own terms and tell them exactly what you want. As far as watching them, don't hover over them, but it's your house and things should be done your way.

I'm starting to weed through things now. I have a big house with a lot of stuff. I am planning on donating most of my things. If you belong to a church, see if they have a garage sale. Also, many churches help people who are trying to get back on their feet. If it isn't something you absolutely love, get rid of it.
