snook - I made the table -- sort of -- I found the base (authentic) on Ebay - less than $100 -- then I had my local hardware store cut me a perfect circle out of particle board (2 layers thick - top layer had stainable finish - and then they even put on the veneer edging for me) -- All I had to do was attach top to bottom and stain. I really have appreciated all your sympathies. Thank you - I have had to go to the doctor and go on steroids as it quickly spread and I got rashes where I had not had an exposure. Ugh! - did I mention I am part of my best friends wedding this weekend and this is also on my nose, my ears and neck? (double ugh!). I have to say Zanfel did help but I am not sure it was worth the $45 I paid for it...and I am not sure I would use it on my face again, I thought my skin would crack and fall off (ok for hands, arms and legs) Technu has long been my poison ivy helper as well as lava soap but this time I really asked for it. Thanks again. Pretty but Poisonous, and a Bit of Phenology The Gardenist |

when Im at home (like at home, at home) I don't worry about getting out of pj's all day -- but I also work from home and I find it tremendously helpful to my 'get-something-done-professionally' mindset if I get up, workout, take a shower, and get dressed in a way that I wouldn't mind seeing other people - even if I don't see other people. I have a few friends who are great 'finishers' -- I am envious of their ability and when I get to the end, I think of them and I mantra 'be a finisher' "be a finisher' 'be a finisher'... Renovation Lessons: Learning To Finish What You Start |

SUSANINTORONTO - I know people can be like this -- And because they are -- I rebel (and you shoudl too!)-- I can do this because I work for myself and largely create my own work culture. But my clients do not expect me to be at their beckon call (why should I be - they don't pay me for that) and I don't answer the work calls outside of normal business hours. Period. I make my schedule and work in a way that works for me.... Sometimes you have to train people how to treat you. 10 Simple Ways to Carve More Time Into Your Day |

JillOlivia -- that is a good question....I haven't planted a vertical garden like this myself so I am not sure of the answer. Many of the vertical gardens that you see are done using special planters that do have mechanisms for holding the plants in (i.e. they are tipped, troughs, fabric, etc. etc) --- but this more homegrown technique is not one I have tried.... you should check out the book 'Garden Up!' - by Susan Morrison and Rebecca Sweet (http://www.amazon.com/Garden-Smart-Vertical-Gardening-Spaces/dp/1591864925) I think it has some good guidance for creating this look. - Rochelle Tin's Utilitarian Franchise Garden The Gardenist |

I have the same problem with a Mitchell gold sofa (that I paid alot more for than I would have with Ikea) -- I may have to resort to the homemade version of cushions, but I am wondering if anyone has had any luck with buying replacement Mitchell Gold Cushions -- I can't even get the company to email me or call me back to tell me that they aren't available. veggiegirl -- I am in central MA, outside of Boston -- (and so is my local farmer) -- all I can say it that I tried it -- and I got plenty of tomatoes from my 'seed' plants. I am sowing my tomatoes today actually (which is about a week later than I did last year). Only because I am busy and didn't get to it before now. I think that the growing season is lengthening. Long time New Englanders have told me many times that the frost free date is the end of May -- but online (last I checked) it is now May 15th....but I have successfully pushed it to beginning of may for the last few years and not had a problem. Hi Melic -- Apartment Therapy is is very conscientious about image crediting and making sure that credit is given where credit is due. This was meant with a somewhat joking tone, but also I think that downloading and using images for your own personal inspiration is completely within the realm of expected and acceptable and certainly is not stealing. Though I will admit, when I wrote the word 'swipe', what was going through my head was something along the lines of sitting in the dr's office reading a magazine and seeing that perfect picture in said magazine (that is 6 months old and falling apart)....you see where I am heading here? wow -- sorry to not have replied to all your comments earlier...but I didn't know until just now that this was actually posted!! So to answer your questions...1) the fireplace was made for us custom by a welder friend. I did however model it after something I had seen in europe -- probably the one mentioned. 2) the kids room print was found on clearance at a local fabric place -- it was a crazy expensive designer I can't remember, and I got it for a song. 3) yes, the ceilings are low, and we are tall, but we are used to it now (when we first moved in we considered loosing the attic to get more head height, but commons sense and budget intervened. 4) I made all the curatins and window treatments myself. The living room fabric is from calico corner. 5) So, I (rochelle) am going to be a contributor here at AT!....since I'm new, and I don't yet know the ropes, I will have to check and see if I can do a bigger tour of my own house....stay tuned...I will ask ;) Rochelle & Rob's Country Cottage House Call |
