I wasn't sure about this when my bf brought his bed over from Germany, but now I'm never going back. Separate mattresses (same frame) and bedding means we can cuddle when we want to, but we both get a good night's sleep. Scandinavian Style: Two Duvets on One Bed |

I really like the idea of the higher clothes rod... You always end up with a shelf up top where it's impossible to get at things that you use on a regular basis (like mittens and scarves). I'm tucking this idea away for use later! Thanks! Before & After: A Pretty, Organized Hallway Closet |

Honestly, while I agree with these suggestions, I feel like they're aimed at people who already get it. I find the whole issue with keeping things when you maybe shouldn't is based on irrational attachment, for whatever reason - not wanting to be wasteful, being afraid to give away things that were gifted to you, afraid to let go of memories, whatever. Following rules like these helps me be way more productive at home. Working full time and trying to finish a thesis at night makes it hard, but there are things that can help. I find the task list to be incredibly important, and time management techniques can help.
