One year when I was young I asked my parents for a kitten for Christmas. I was so fervent in my request that I prayed every night that Jesus would let me have a kitten Christmas morning. I remember coming into the family room to find a goldfish in a bow wrapped bowl. When we got pregnant I followed some very good advice from a friend, don't find out what you are having (or if you do, don't tell anyone that you know). You can register for the basic things you NEED when having a baby and you'll be sure to get them. And people won't be spending money on cutsie dresses or little slugger outfits so they will be willing to spend a bit more on that fancy video monitor you asked for.
