This may be a non sequitur, but is there a recipe kicking around anywhere for that lovely casserole situation that is keeping the hash browns company? Yum!

um, i LOVE the linoleum in your kitchen! is it a pain to clean? i am crushing on it so so so hard :)

maybe it's one of those things that polarizes and if you didn't pick it yourself it's hard to adore? but seriously, that would have been my tipping point to snag the apartment. (that and i love small spaces.)

so full of light and life! i loved it, and kathyp17, i had exactly the same reaction. this home has so much heart, and really resonated on an amazing level.

(i have really terrible arachnophobia and got super scared when i got to the spider sculpture, but apart from that everything was incredible!)

side note: if you're using wooden containers, you should line the inside with plastic so that the repeated watering doesn't cause the wood to warp or rot.

alys fowler's garden anywhere is such an awesome resource for the beginning gardener (it's also beautifully designed!), and it pointed that out before i planted all my window boxes. do i ever appreciate it! now they are around for another season rather than breaking up in soggy pieces.

i love your home! as a fellow boston-area resident (if across the rivah in cambridge), i have one sourcing question: whereeeee did you get the bird lamp? at least i think they are lamps? white, with clothespin "feet"?

i've lived in my apartment for over a year now in search of the perfect bedside lights that are wall-mountable, quirky and fun. i found some folded paper dinosaurs a few months ago, but they weren't quite right. i LOVE the birds and would love to make those a reality!

thanks in advance, and i adore your space.

great job all around! when i saw the couple i was pretty sure i'd seen their home on design*sponge a few months back, but it was shot in a way that made it feel fresh, interesting, and still quirky - it was like a totally different space!

i love it: it's a testament both to the amazing nature of their home and to the photographer. the complete absence of that weird, voyeuristic sense of deja vu you get when looking at the same pictures of someone's house on the internet - AGAIN - was soooo appreciated.

adwoa here. thanks, tobermory, for the helpful (and on-topic!) response - much appreciated! i'll keep an eye out for them on ebay, and cast an eye around in september if no one has seen these particular ones sooner.

emika, they're a little too big to fit on a palm, maybe seven or eight inches long? their proportions and the weird little flashlight-esque remind me of the cute little tom otterness statuettes in the 14th street subway in new york.

it also looks like a beautiful arcade style building in genova whose name i've forgotten. i guess we can all just be glad that baron haussmann didn't get to all of the cities in europe, no?

if it doesn't absolutely have to be wallpaper, why not use regular paper? paper source has some wonderful options; i've lined nearly every wooden piece of furniture i've ever purchased from craigslist with their stuff.

also, i'm surprised that no one has mentioned this: you can order wallpaper samples from most suppliers, meaning you could find an assortment of various styles that you liked and use one as a backdrop to each shelf.

i haven't even LOOKED at the tour yet, but i'm in love with this idea! it's been one of my dream plans for as long as i can remember to go to new zealand and wwoof on a farm that does the soup to nuts treatment of textiles: goat and sheep herding all the way to production. i don't knit, but i'm a mixed media installation artist and have always been fascinated by these kinds of processes.

it's so super exciting to know that someone, anyone, is doing this sort of stuff and i don't have to go halfway around the world! (or rather, that i could try it out first before choosing to head to new zealand anyway!)

good point, guys! i've posted the couch for sale, both in the apartment therapy classifieds and on craigslist; the craigslist ad is here:

there are better images in that one; the fabric is actually a beautiful waverly print, seen here:

(oh, and boomerangs is amazing, and you might also try buckaroo's in central and there is a tiny but well-stocked vintage place in davis, too. this is convenient, because you can hit the davis goodwill up the street, which frequently also has magical finds. happy hunting!)

another vote for both the CAM and brimfield. if you go to the CAM, go up to the fourth floor; there is a vendor there who has an amazing selection of kitchenware and great prices! there is some fiestaware scattered around the other floors but it's usually painfully expensive.

if not, GO to brimfield in july. i was shopping for large furniture the last time i was there, but there was so much amazing kitchenware! i came home with four teapots and no credenza; it was kind of ridiculous. but there are tents and tents of just ceramics vendors; you will have a blast!

Hey guys! Adwoa here; glad you like the piece! Perhaps I wasn't clear enough - the sofa has ALREADY been reupholstered. I now need to cover the staples of that upholstery job.

Currently I have the middle piece in the kitchen and the two end pieces in my living room as a couch, but it's not the ideal solution. (My apartment is 360 sq ft... which would be fine, but my living room doesn't have any corners. I tried every possible configuration to squeeze it in around the two doorways, a closet and a radiator, but it's just not going to happen.)

Thanks so much for the suggestions; I will definitely check out those sites!
