Wow, I love it. Love the light! And I love how real it feels (no gutted kitchen, no perfect yard, just pretty good bones and a great eye for design.) Also THANK YOU for a floor plan! Clayton + Kate's Stylish Abode House Tour |

Somehow this was endearingly charming-- not sure if it's despite of or because of its typical Seattle quirks. And things like the drinking game, Butt Book, Crown pillow, and odd furry lamp... and then bouquets of tulips. Haha. hmm. But somehow, I really liked it. My favorite part has got to be the big table where everyone congregates. I love big tables right in the middle of things just for that purpose. Also I LOVE the maps! I agree with eliz. I'm all for quick and easy recipes, but do we have to use the term 'mom' to lump together everyone who has to balance a packed schedule with nutrition, or at least leave dads out of the equation? I was using canned chickpeas last night, and I noticed that if you smash them a little with a fork (I did so in a mesh strainer after rinsing them), the skins pull up a lot. Then it just took a few minutes of picking skins out of the strainer and that was it-- I should've just submerged them in water and scooped the skins off the top! Next time... I'm in the same boat as BruinToo-- AT linked back to your (old?) house, which was just kind of confusing. It looked great, though, so I'd love it if you did a full House Tour after the kitchen reno is done! (And good luck!) I agree with RumAGoGo. They are wonderful bars, and I think everyone should try that recipe at least once (I loved them!), but they are a big undertaking and perhaps not the most transport-friendly confection. Perhaps check out Smitten Kitchen's newest post-- salted caramel brownies. http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2013/02/salted-caramel-brownies/ I'd be hard-pressed to find a guy who didn't like those... The Cure is a funny thing. I have a hard time saying no, but I decided from the get-go that I would NOT participate because I knew I would stress myself out. I didn't follow the schedule one bit, but reading about everyone's productivity is contagious! I got two errands crossed off the 'things hanging over my head' list (yes, that is a real list I keep), Craigslisted a set of books, and outboxed 25 items of clothing, some shoes, and a few assorted house items. I honestly did NOT think I had that much to donate. Now I find myself at work thinking of items to outbox when I get home! It is so cathartic. I absolutely love number 1, but if you look at the blueprint of the house, it is next to the front door across the house from the garage! Well, shoot... I thought this post was going to defend adults who like 'kid food'. And while I'm as much of a foodie as the next Kitchn reader, I like short ribs and roasted veggies and quiches just as much as I like chicken nuggets and applesauce and mac and cheese. (I hated PB&J and mac and cheese as kid, so maybe I'm just slow) Everyone has our 'kid' and 'adult' style preferences, including the youngest of us. At the end of the day, it's just food. And if we can get enough nutrients, great. In Defense of \"Kid Food\" |

I think a fresh fruit or veggie would nicely round out the crunchy/salty offerings. Clementines are inexpensive, in season, and beautiful in a brightly colored bowl-- especially if you can manage to find some with the leaves still on to disperse throughout. I've also enjoyed dried fruits, crackers, and cheese at the pre-dinner reception, though that may be pricey. A Homey Budget Wedding Meal for 120: The Menu Homemade Weddings |

Sometimes I feel like I take the 'mom' approach, but if there's not enough space in the fridge for my stuff (and there's not much of it!), I'll find something to throw out, shove everything else over, and tuck my stuff on the side (also helpful to put your stuff in the same inconspicuous location to keep people from eating it). If anyone asks about their food (which they probably won't, since they clearly forgot) then tell them. If they care, they'll stop leaving it. If they don't, well it only takes a few seconds for you to make some room and throw stuff out. What Are Some Good Strategies for Dealing with My Messy Roommates? Good Questions |

I designate a week or two every season to do the "Great Purge" and allow myself to wear clothes that have been in the back of my closet, use up the trial-size lotions and shampoos that tend to accumulate, and 'eat down' my stockpile of pantry items.
