I've been looking for those square hermetic jars for like three years now! Someone, for the love of all that is holy, please tell me where to find them. Pleeeeaaaaaasssseee! Marina's Boozy NYC Kitchen Kitchen Spotlight |

@Speakabooboo: Agreed. I see closets like that and I assume that the owner is fictional and/or has some pretty serious OCD. They do look pretty, though. Small Space Solutions: Everything You Need to Create a Tidy Open Closet |

I'm living with roommates who want everything on the counter, and I am the exact opposite, so my kitchen currently demonstrates my worst nightmare: Giant spice rack, even though we only use about 10 of them on the regular, several bottles of different vinegars that are used so rarely they're covered in dust, Sodastream, toaster over, microwave, French press (the one thing that's mine), espresso maker, dish drainer, utensil container, salt cellar, unused butter bell, garlic jar, fruit bowl, and usually half a stick of butter that sits out for at least two days. I understand that a lot of people like to have their stuff close at hand, but personally I would much rather have to take out the things I need than have to clean around all of that stuff. It takes a good 10 minutes to thoroughly clean our counters, and most of that time is dedicated to moving and replacing the stuff that sits on it. Sigh. Will be looking for equally awesome but more minimalist roomies next time around. What Does Your Kitchen Say About You? |

Ditto on the claustrophobia. Maybe a wall of cabinetry on the fridge side and open shelving or plain wall space on the other side of the room would make it better. As it is it's just oppressive, even with the light colors. The cabinetry is beautiful, though. A 6x16-Foot Galley Kitchen: The Custom Tricks That Make It Work Small Kitchen Inspiration |

I used to watch "Yan Can Cook" when I was in elementary school (yes, I was a nerd even then), and he always said that you should never use the sharp side to scrape. I've always listened. :-) Why You Shouldn't Scrape the Sharp Edge of Your Knife Over the Cutting Board Video |

I did this when I was in high school and didn't have a jewelry box. I liked it for a while but I had dust problems that were a huge pain so it wasn't worth it for me. I used clear push pins and they worked perfectly. Artfully Organize Your Accessories Lucky Magazine |

Dropping the cash to buy an ipad in the first place was a challenge for me mentally, and the thought of buying apps and accessories had me cringing. I've had my iPad 2 since April, and the only accessory you really "need" right away is a case/cover. I bought a smart cover and love it. Advice For First Time iPad Owners |

Yes, they taste a little bit processed, but I love these too. Sometimes you need something quick and convenient, and I'll take this over a candy bar or bag of chips any day. As much as I'd love to be completely organic and healthy and snooty all the time, that's not realistic. Quick Addition to Lunch Bags: Laughing Cow Cheese The Cheesemonger |

I did this in a spare room when it was just my dad and I. I used a nice cottage-y green (I don't know how else to describe it) and painted 18 inch wide stripes in alternating matte and satin finishes. It took me two days but it was so beautiful! It broke my heart when I moved out and my stepmother painted the room lavender. So it goes. If I could paint my current rental, I'd do this again in a heartbeat. I feel stupid calling myself a flexitarian, but it's pretty much what I am. I usually end up calling myself an almost vegetarian, because I eat meat once every month or two. Calling yourself an omnivore just doesn't work when you spend the vast majority of your life eating vegetarian. It also lets a little bit of the pressure off of a host or hostess by letting them know that I'd appreciate it if there are veggie options, but they don't have to go out of their way. Thank God there are other people who find this disconcerting. I'm not saying I've never brought reading material into the bathroom with me, but to have magazines (plural!) permanently living in the bathroom weirds me out. If you're spending that much time on the toilet on a regular basis, you need to adjust your diet. Seriously. It shouldn't take you long enough to get bored. I just fell in love with brussels sprouts about a month ago--fresh off the stalk and roasted with salt, pepper and olive oil. Completely amazing and nothing like the smelly, squishy little brains my mother used to boil for us. Yuck. Woman Addicted to Eating Couch Cushions Food News for Monday, January 24 |

I love to put stuff on top of the cabinets--but only if it's either decorative and doesn't need to be cleaned often, or it gets used so often that it doesn't have time to get dusty. Unfortunately, one of my roommates this time around is 5'2", so that's a no go. And it's a bit of a pain because she doesn't want to have to use a stool for anything, so we have to keep all heavily used items as low as possible or she'll whine. We haven't had the conversation about my bad back yet, but it's coming soon. Along with a friggin' stool. Cabinet-Top Storage: Darling or Dangerous? |

I'm with everyone who hates the Mao pictures, and I also get annoyed with the Che obsession of the last few years. And since we're on the subject of people plastering there homes with images that they don't sully understand, I'm also annoyed by all the buddha imagery and busts in the contemporary homes of pretentious non-buddhists.
