Fashion person speaking here - I own a clothing company and have worked in the industry for a while. Basically the reason that companies put a dry clean only tag into garments is (1) because they are using different types of fabrics in one garment, and those different fabrics react differently to washing (e.g. different shrinkage %, bleeding, crocking) - so dry clean only is the safety net. Or (2) the fabric used in the garment is persnickety and/or delicate, and the clothing company does not want to receive returns from people who wash the item improperly. That's it, really. Personally I wash most of my dry clean only items by hand in cold water, armed with this knowledge. I do take most of my wool to the dry cleaner about once a year, but I'm ready to try washing that myself too. Most fabric is way more resilient than clothing companies would lead you to believe.

I think it's lovely. The room is very well done, SO pulled together - I love the colors mixed with the strong architectural elements. The naysayers must be jealous ;)

Such a lovely and cozy little place. You have a very well-edited collection of furniture, and I love how you have used fabric to tie together different areas of each room. I also LOVE your little bed-cave... so inviting and snuggly!

Robustly deco, in a very good way - that bathroom floor is killer, I'd love to see how that was done. The whole place is amazing, and I agree with previous posters that it's nice to see some deco love on here as a contrast to all the MCM running around. Your place has the soul of old Hollywood.

My fiance also has a growing guitar collection, and I have encourage him to hang them up on the walls as art - just because I think they're so pretty.

Well. This started out exciting, then went way downhill. Cool old building, loft, potential - and then I get smacked in the face with oh-so-bland "magazine modern" crap. No personality. The only cool part of their home is the library, with it's killer doors and fireplace. Then again - it is "Midwest Living" - I guess they have a target audience for a reason. However, I expect more excitement from AT -more personality and more unique homes in the featured posts!

Eerily reminiscent of the "Harlem Toile" that caused such an uproar a little while back, if you ask me. *Sigh*. This idea has been done, and was executed in a much more exciting manner (politically and artistically) than this particular "Chinatown" example.
