@mellonnew: no, we don't have a hard time starting fires (speaking for myself and ALL of the 'city folk' I know.) But you know, someone needed to make a video about starting fires.

I tried the freezer thing with my jeans. I'll stick to washing and line drying.

After just reading the last house tour, it just seems weird that the next article that is posted is on how to start a fire. What in the world?

The only thing that I regret about living in a walkup is that my mom has a hard time climbing the steps :(

You get used to it. I live in an attic apartment of a very tall home, and I run up the whole way. And I am NOT in shape! My friend lives in a 6th floor walkup in Brooklyn and it's no big deal, but I do think the good Lord that I didnt have to help her move her shit in there! The first time I hired movers was the last time I moved my own stuff.

"Flag etiquette means literally nothing."

That brings a whole new meaning to 'literally.'

Lol

That was certainly a tough time, the place looks great though. I like the whole Americana theme you have going on. The bathroom is actually my favorite, which surprised me because I generally like light airy bathrooms. Random question: does that shower curtain actually keep the floor from getting wet?

I don't want know where to send this info, so I'll post here: could someone fix that "back to original post" link? It doesn't re-direct back to this post, it goes to the first picture in the tour.

I don't love everything, but I do LOVE those splashes of blue. I would TOTALLY rent this place for vacation.

And that post about shipping was really helpful. My mother bought some land in her birth country and the I'm gonna bookmark this page for reference.

I actually hate the pom-pom on these pillows. Maybe a tassel would have worked better if they had to add an embellishment.

I had a a mint plant once. I would pluck leaves from it and put it in my tea and water. Then I started breaking out. After giving my leaves a closer inspection (my eyesight isn't that great) I noticed that I was consuming a healthy dose of aphids along with my minted water. Nice.

I had these in the house growing up, but they were made of leather and we got them from Nigeria. These are cool too.

I developed allergies in my later 20's and they were severe. I broke out in hives at the sight of allergens, scratching until I bled. I couldn't breathe, eyes were red and itchy..then I met fexofenadine. A love affair was born.

I can tolerate cats, but after about 3 days, even if I've dosed myself on prophylactic anti histamines, the symptoms come on-strong. I feel for her because I love cats too, but it is what it is.

I like #4. Number 2 is ugly and number 1 just seems like they're trying to hard. I grew up around a lot of graf and I would think that this would appeal to me, but it just doesn't.

I worked at KFC and a waterpark restaurant back in the day as a cook and dishwasher. This was the 90's and I washed every dish by hand. Wash hot, rinse hot, sanitize cool+10%bleach. I still do that when Im cooking for a crowd at home

When I was young and living in DC, my sister and I counted all of our dolls and stuffed animals and we had over 70 of those things.

They magically disappeared when we moved to Virginia.

For the duvet, I use rubber bands. I rubber band the comforter to two inside corners of the duvet. It makes it MUCH easier to get the duvet on because I just pull on those two corners from the right side to pull the comforter in. It never shifts.

My issue is neat storage. My bedroom always looks cluttered :-p
