Congrats! Very exciting. My favorite Kitchn recipes I've made are braised coconut spinach chickpeas with lemon, miso soup with a poached egg, ricotta mousse with balsamic cherries, and southern sausage gravy (I use this last one a lot). I love the idea for the book structure, too!

Although not totally comprehensive, I do adore Ripe and Tender. They're beautifully written, have so much information on what they do cover, and the recipes are delicious. They are a little whimsical ("add a little water" instead of like "three tablespoons of water") but if you're on board with that, I highly recommend them!

I made this today and it was wonderful! I added red pepper flakes and thyme (because I love a little spice with my creamy seafood dishes, and thyme for extra depth). So delicious! This recipe is a keeper.

As a former Austinite now living in Seattle, I am making something I've been missing - breakfast tacos! Roasted poblano, guacamole and carrot escabeche with egg, to be exact. Also oven roasted potatoes to go with. Yum!

I think glitter only works in large doses. I think a little glitter looks cheesy, but a lot of glitter looks rock star!

Yes! Totally agreed. I sometimes see TV news and it's seems even more loud, brash and crass when you've stopped consuming it for the most part. It's overwhelming.

Busy Autumn Ahead: 10 Meals to Make and Freeze Now Recipe Roundup

I have done several long distance moves and I have to support everyone who's said 'join up and/or learn something' - whatever it is, from church to meditation to meetups to classes to dog parks to sports to community activities. Sure, these people will only be aquaintences for a while - but friendship takes time to build a deep friendship. Eventually you'll realize who among the people you meet you're mutually drawn to, and a friendship will happen. Much like a romantic relationship you have to get out there, make yourself attractive, and recognize what's mutually exciting between you and a potential friend.

Threads like this do make me sad about mothers - I am friends with several mothers and married women and men who are still friends with me and do things. Maybe it's just the area I'm in or the type of person I'm attracted to but having kids or being in a relationship hasn't necessarily barred someone from being friends with me. (I have no kids)

I love it. I have a car but I use it as little as possible. I enjoy the incidental exercise and not having to pay for and use gas. I live where I can walk or bike to everything in less than 5 miles - I always find my apartment this way. I am about to move to a city with public transportation too and I cannot wait.

Love! Great idea. I might make one of these soon.

For fillers, you can look up 'foam' in the phone book (how old am I?... on google) and there should be factor- type places that can give you a bit of foam to your sizes and texture (firm, soft, etc). Some were upholstry shops. If I remember correctly it's not very expensive. I had to replace one couch cushon once and it was simple this way.
